Dropped in while I was in town for family stuff. Great selection, great ambiance, prices were about average -- came away with some Dieu de Ciel Iím excited about, some local stuff, and some Swedish beer. Staff was helpful, but I canít say they were overly knowledgeable; I think I might have just hit a bad patch, though. Overall, quite impressive.

Great selection, good organization on shelves and in coolers, lots of local Indiana stuff. There were three staff-- one new guy trying his best, one awesome beer guy, and one mouth-breathing moron. So Iím giving service a 7 because we had to work our way up to the awesome beer guy, who saved this place from getting a 4 for service! Anyway, for out-of-towners, this is certainly a worthwhile stop.

Good sized liquor store. Fair bit of indy beers (and shockingly little three floyds)., against the grain, shoreline, fat heads, etc. among more notable non locals. fairly good selection for indy. Staff was able to tell me what was fresh and what wasnt, and most of the ipas are in the fridge.

Stopped here while in Indianapolis on business. Smaller store with a great look and feel to it. A bit cramped, but space is at a premium in a downtown location. Based on reviews, I was expecting to find more, but really was not overwhelmed by the place. Its nice enough, but I imagine there is better in the area. Great spot if you are downtown though and looking for something better than cheap macro beer. Prices seemed very high, but maybe its the norm for Indy.

My rating may be a bit higher than for a "regular" since this was the one place I stopped to pick up some local beers to take back to Chicago while vacationing in Indy for a long weekend. They had a great local selection of city breweries, Indiana and Ohio beers. The selection of the usual non-local stuff as OK, but not great. Had a very large selection of bombers. Almost all of the 6 packs were refrigerated, which is a big plus for an IPA fan. Parking can be a royal pain in the ass, though there are plenty of parking lots and garages nearby.

Was in town yesterday to pick up a Craigslist purchase, stopped by here on the recommendation of Ratebeer. The place has a solid selection, but for being the top-rated beerspot in Indianapolis, I was disappointed. Itís a downtown liquor store, and you definitely get that vibe. They were willing to let me pull single bottles out of sixpacks, but they seemed a little annoyed about that (seems like a very rare occasion that someone comes in and gets a case of singles, here). I wasnít rushed, though, and the service was decent. Good selection of locals that Iíve never seen before, and nice solid selection of imports.. I was excited to pick up a BrewDog Tokio*, Iíve been searching for that one for a while. Single bottles were marked up slightly, everything else seemed to be retail. Overall, solid. If nothing else, thereís guaranteed to be a bomber here that is new to you if youíre visiting from out of town. But Iím not convinced that this is the best Indy has to offer, next time Iíll be trying a different beer store

Downtown Indianapolis - limited street parking but thereís a parking garage right around the corner on Ohio. Nice selection of local, Belgian, and Mikkeller beers and decent German selection. A good stop to combine with trips to Sun King and Flat 12 (which are just a short trip east on Ohio).

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Looked for Three Floyds; they had 3 six pack choices (Alpha King, Pride & Joy, and Robert the Bruce) and 2 bombers, Behemoth and Arctic Panzer Wolf. Prices are high here. Theyíre aggressive about carding even if you arenít buying anything (we had a large group and only a few made purchases) but otherwise very helpful. Good selection of Shoreline but prices were outrageous on those. Lots of other good local and regional labels. Very good selection for a limited amount of space.

(Visited 02/2012 and a couple times since): Crown Liquorsí downtown location is in a historic building at the intersection of Ohio and Delaware. There is metered street parking in front of the store and in the surrounding blocks.
The interior has a ground level floor and a downstairs section devoted to wine. The beer section is all along the rear of the store (depending on which entrance you use) in coolers along the wall and shelves opposite.
Crown stocks hundreds of beers at this location, and has the best selection of the chain that I have visited. Many Indiana and regional craft breweries are represented like Three Floyds, Upland, Mad Anthony and Sun King are in stock, as are other domestic craft breweries like New Belgium, Stone, Anchorage and Tyranena. Lots of imports too from Mikkeller (including pretty much the whole Single Hop line) and others. Lots of singles as well.
Service has been consistently good on my visits. The staff knows the beer and are always friendly. They also offer discounts on case purchases.
Overall this is one of my favorite shops to visit when in Indianapolis, downtown or otherwise.
