On the corner of the busy 18th and U st. intersection. Nice but small shop that is primarily craft beer and wine. Recently expanded their domestic beer selection and the majority of beers are now refrigerated. Generally stocks Founders, Bell’s, Stone, Flying Dog, JP, plus other local DC breweries, plus some special releases. Also receives the grey market DDC, Alesmith, Lost Abbey stuff but you will pay a premium. There’s also a small shelf with Belgians where I’ve found some unusual stuff. Prices tend to be reasonable. Staff is excellent and will answer any question you may have. They also have a rewards program for regulars.

Northeast side of the busy corner of 18th and Florida. Six packs and singles. Wine and liquor. Hardwood floors gave a thorough rattling with the soles of my shoes as I spontaneously strode inside enroute to Jack Rose, only a couple of doors down. An aproned gentleman with unkempt hair greeted me but thankfully didn’t spit out the loathsome "need help finding anything in particular?" because I don’t want to make this a long conversation.

A wine place with a reasonable beer selection. Friendly owner and staff who ar willing to search the storeroom for stuff that might not be on display. He can also special order stuff. Worth a look.

De Vinos is mostly a specialty wine shop that happens to be about 50% beer. Even though at one time this place was 75% beer and had Cantillon, 3F, Fantome. Now the Belgian beer selection is mediocre. Maybe some De Dolle and random stuff but not that impressive. US micro stuff is mediocre though on occasion this place gets Port Brewing bombers. As of this moment, I would not really go out of my way to check De Vinos, though they have a great location and very friendly staff. I will say, though, that if you are polite and get to know the staff that they will usually be able to check of things in the back. I’ve gotten some BCS Vanilla and Cantillon Iris here from this. So great staff and usually this place will lobby for special release beers. But for everyday beer shopping, the Chinese woman’s place across the street has more variety.

What a surprise! There were plenty of Belgians, and a few six-packs for working Joe to pick up that were west coast little guys that might turn a macro drinker here and there. But the beer geeks will appreciate the care and thought that went into the beer list here. Lots of gems and decent to high prices but the best beer store in the immediate (densely populated) area.

The selection of Belgian beers has really expanded over the past 6-12 months. They have a new case filled with singles of what must be least 50 different Belgians. I’ve seen better prices, but if there is a better selection of Belgians beer in this city I havent seen it.

**UPDATE: The Belgian beer section is back... *UPDATE: They remodeled and took out most of the Belgium beers that were not in the cooler, which really hurt there selection and appeal...very mediocre now...disappointing. This is a nice specialty wine and beer store. Their selection was mostly higher end micro brews in 22s or other bottles. Ive heard the service is great and the people are friendly and will order you things if you ask nicely. I think this is the best stop for the afore mentioned beers in the DC metro area.

Sells only wine and beer, with several poshy choices for carrying cases and other cute gifts, etc. Exceedingly yuppie and just the kind of place that the local young lawyer would go to buy her wine simply because of the atmosphere. Very small selection that merits an entry for its quality. Limited space seems to have inhibited their options, but they’ve made an effort to represent quite a few small breweries. Interesting choices - it seems like the kind of place that you could wander into every now and again to find a strange and unexpected gem. Hence the entry.
