| bp (47), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | November 15, 2009 Stopped in here after spending some time at the Sunset Grill. Nice atmosphere, food was excellent and while the tap list wasn’t extensive they did have some good stuff (Lou Pepe on draft was a special treat). Well worth a stop if you are a foodie. If you want to expose yourself to a ton of beer options and have only one choice while in Boston I would go with Sunset Grill. | | chriso (161), London, England | | October 14, 2009 [ Updated November 25, 2009 ] Can only echo what others have said. Not the biggest tap list but that is not necessarily a bad thing as it should ensure a decent rotation. An excellent mix of local beers, good stuff from elsewhere in the US and high quality imports. Prices seemed a little higher than some other places I visited in the Boston area, but not outrageously so. Good cocktails too if you are into that. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Quite a small place with a rather Bohemian vibe. Standing room only mid evening on a Tuesday. So, although we intended to eat, we didn’t as there was nowhere to sit down. My only real gripe (and a common one for me in US bars) was that the music was rather loud. So, whilst we were in quite a large group of people, many of whom I had not met before, I could only really speak to one person at a time. But the overall impression was extremely positive. Will go back. | | yemenmocha (61), Glendale, Arizona | | October 7, 2009 Deep Ellum had fewer taps than the other beer spot just down the street, but they were all thoughtful/quality selections. My hoptimator was just what I was looking for, though it was seemingly harder to choose from their limited selection over the larger selection elsewhere.
Narrow interior is decorated well with a clean and more upscale feel to it than other bars in the area. Food presentation looked good but I did not eat on this vist - it just looked very good!
Prices were within normal range for the area and quality of beer. | | joebudzjoe (19), Connecticut | | September 13, 2009 I went here for brunch on a warm September early afternoon. I was a bit hungover, so I didn’t drink anything here, but they have a decent selection of rare beers.
The regular bar part is pretty basic, but there’s a nice outside terrace that has plenty of open air.
The waitresses and bartenders were very courteous and prompt and their brunch food is great. I had their burrito and it was excellent. Funky place. | RCL (4), Waltham, Massachusetts does not count - explanation | | May 4, 2009 [ Updated September 11, 2009 ] Not the longest beer list in town, but maybe the best, most carefully chosen. Didn’t get to try the food this time around, but I will definitely be returning to do that. | | Tweety (10), Vancouver, Washington | | April 29, 2009 I love this place, with about 20 regular taps (all spectacular, without fail), at least one rotating cask offering, a nice atmosphere, and spectacular yet rather affordable food, I don’t see how you could go wrong. | | SFLpunk (11), South Burlington, Vermont | | April 26, 2009 This place is long and narrow. I can’t imagine what it’s like on a Saturday night!
We sat in a small table along the wall. The server was polite, fast and attentive. Decent menu, rather long for the size of the place. Great tap selections from Imperial Stouts to IPA’s. Didn’t notice a lot of Belgian stuff, but I didn’t really look at anything other than the tap list, so I can’t be sure.
Ordered an Anderson Valley 21 Anniv IPA. Nice, full pour. My friend ordered a Gritty’s Stout and got it in an Imperial Pint, nice touch.
Definitely worth stopping by. Heard their brunch and bloody’s are the best in the area from my friends.
| | kiefdog (101), Tampa, Florida | | August 31, 2008 Nice beer bar in the Boston area and definitely worth a stop when you are in the area. Much nicer and newer than other beer bars with an impressive selection of american craft and imported offerings on tap and in the bottle. Reminded us of the Oldsmar Tap House in Tampa, FL, another highly rated beer bar. Draft offerings included German smokebeer, Victory, Allagash, Unibroue, Mayflower, Avery, DFH (120 minute on tap?!?), La Rulles, Affligem, North Coast and many others. Bottle selection was also impressive. Did not eat on this trip, but the food looked good. | | Beese (50), Watford, England | | July 4, 2008 [ Updated September 5, 2008 ] This place probably wasn’t quite as good as I thought it was going to be, well it didn’t live up to the hype I built up in my head. However I still thought it was definitely worth the visit. Quite early afternoon when I went in, just a couple of punters in there, the beer list wasn’t extensive, but they had some top quality brews on there, although it wasn’t so perfect from my point of view as the list seemed more geared towards European imports, which being a European out to try some US beers wasn’t quite what I was hoping for. A bit pricey for me to have too many beers in there, bit of a shame that they don’t sell the beers in smaller measurements, it limited the amount of beers I was able to try. Still worth checking out though. |
