A fun pub, but unfortunately very much off-center. While most of the good downtown New Haven pubs have a cool/trendy vibe (certainly due to the prestigious Yale University) this off-center Delaney’s is more of a blue-collar pub, young and older. Pretty basic as far as decoration and furniture is concerned. Medium size. This place is listed on ratbeer as a restaurant, I don’t know why, yes they serve food, but so do plenty of other pubs. This is definitely a pub. Free peanuts, peanut shells all over the place. Extensive tap list, the best I found in New Haven. I remember drinking a print of New England 668 Neighbor of the Beast on tap, which is a rather uncommon beer. Extensive food menu as well with plenty of affordable typical pub meals at around $10 as well a few more pricey steaks and stuff. Another thing that’s cool about Delaney’s is its proximity to Amity Wine & Spirits which has the largest beer selection I found in New-Haven. Certainly worth a stop.

Visited October 19, 2010. Awesome bottle selection and great tap listing. Server was knowledgable about beer. Food was wonderful.

Choiose here because half way between NYC and RI and needed to meet parents to exchange my dogs prior to vacation. Odd place with 3 separate rooms. However the back bar had good tvs and lots of taps and plenty of whiskey. If I wasn’t driving I could do real damage. Food was quite decent for bar food and service was friendly. Man this place feels like Cheers! I really hated to leave. They have two bars in the restaurant I was at the smaller one near the entrance. What an interesting group of people there. The beer list was massive with way over 50 taps and over 150 bottles. They also had a big selection of whiskeys. The bar staff was extremely friendly. They even comped me a beer. I’ll definitely go back if I’m in the area.

January business trip had me looking for a beer bar nearby to Cromwell, CT. Delaney’s ranked high on everybody’s list so I thought I’d give it a look see. Little confused when I first arrived, Delaney’s takes up two storefronts and has two bars. I sat at the back (older) bar that is not featured on the website. On a Tuesday night @ 7PM all locals and the vibe was right my style. Extensive beer list, very friendly barstaff, and even got a shot of Tullamore Dew on the house. Sandwich I had tasted great and the sweet potato fries were excellent. Don’t know when the next time I’ll be in the area but I’ll be sure to come in again to this friendly beer bar.

Great spot! Nice selection of quality tap beers, and an even better selection of bottles. Food was terrific, and they have a couple sections of the place with different atmospheres, depending on what you are there for (bar areas, restaurant, etc.).

Got there on a quiet Sunday afternoon to catch up with some old friends. Decent location with a parking lot, which is nice. Good tap selection and good bar food. Definitely worth a stop.

Definately the go-to place in New Haven, though one needs to drive through a more undesireable neighbourhood to be here. Staff and even most other patron are friendly, and give off that neighbourhood bar feeling. One big bar a pool table and dart boards. The other, just that English stle bar place with unobtrusive music. Both with long bars. Several tables for restaurant. he bartender quickly ran to get me extra tastings of stuff, and even cracked open a bottle when I was talking about polish beers, to try something new. 56 taps, with often a theme going on. This week it wasSierra Neveda’s, and worth travelling out of the way for. Good carbonation and temperature of beers served, appropriate glassware.

Recently stopped by for a nice lunch on the patio. Large selection with many beers you don’t usually find on tap. Was out of the first two things I ordered, yet was still able to try some tasty beers.

A great spot in New Haven, a little pricey, but i didnt really care after an afternoon spent in ikea. selection is amazing, draft list was a little weak after seeing what was in bottles, but with 45 draught, 160 bottles, there was enough to chose from, dinner was excellent, waiter was fine, not great. definetly a good spot if your in the area.
