An inviting city central, corner pub with a local feel visited by a mixed clientele. Seven well-kept cask ales from Cains (only two), George Wright, Titanic, and other breweries from the northwest. The beer menu is displayed on a blackboard at the bar. An outstretched single room containing the lovely Victorian bar area, and a TV section to the rear of the room. Friendly service. The pub takes pride in having been the Liverpool Camra Pub of 2010 and 2011. A good banter (Visited, 09.04.2013).

Visited in januar 2012 on our pre-winter-ale-pubcrawl.. Lovely city pub, the day we visit 8 cask was on, with a nice range of beers, a few from micro brewries. Nice deco with some big lamps and heating on the toilets.... Friendly staff and good condition on the beers.

Great place in Liverppol, Dave always seems to suprise us with som new exiting great real ales from the area. If you are in to real ales this is one of the best places in the region!! Dispensary have been woted to Pub of the Year by CAMRA several times and are a must if you are in Liverpool. Friendly and helpful staff, and a great selection is the key here. Keeo up th gret work. And pour me some of that Cappuchino stout!!

When I started writing this review and looked on the web to check the address of the Dispensary, I was surprised to find that it’s a Cains pub. This wasn’t immediately obvious when we were there as they had at least four guest beers – unlike the other Cains places we’d visited, which promoted Cains beers almost exclusively. Then again, the Dispensary has won the CAMRA regional pub of the year award several times. You can’t fail to register this as there are banners outside and in proudly announcing the fact. The building is quite ordinary compared with some of the superb Victorian gems elsewhere in Liverpool but it does have some nice features – polished wood panelling, art deco stained glass and ornate pendant lamps. I wasn’t surprised, by the way, to find that the Dispensary was originally called the Grapes. It seems that every second pub in Liverpool used to have this moniker. Arranging to meet in the Grapes must have been a complicated business in days of yore. (Visited 17 January 2012).

No one drinks halves in here, it is a proper pub for proper pub goers, always been busy with friendly locals and friendly visitors on my many visits. Clean wooden floor, split level (rises at the rear), good long bar, old crappy miss-mash of tables and chairs, which strangely, gives a good feel to the place. Cains beers at their best, Liverpool is full of really good bars, this is definately one of them.

All those writing they only got Cains beer should come back here and look by themselves. Eight casks which only one was for a Cains (the bitter). Otherwise it was for local and microbrewers. Some guest tap too, but I just had my stout and went on with my pub crawling. Ambiance is warm and friendly, with a good mixture of Liverpudlians and tourists, Tv screen for news and football. Worth a visit!

would score higher if it wasnt for the extremely unpleasant landlord, most of the staff are brilliant and the beers good but hes a total nightmare!

Nice and friendly street corner pub, with one large room. Cains beers and two or three guset beers on handpump. Tried a well kept Abbeydale Alchemy on my visit in July 2009. Quite busy with lots of friendly locals. Service was friendly and efficient. Well worth a visit.
