Although mainly a whisky bar, they have a decent amout of beer. Got some good ones from US, like a couple from Lost Abbey. Prices are reasonable in a Norwegian standard.

Went for a beer tasting in the basement so I didn’t spend that much time around the bar. What I noticed was a quite nice selection of bottles and one/two taps from Nøgne Ø. The staff was nice enough, a little inattentive on this occasion. I might go back for a whiskey or beer tasting in the future, but probably not on a regular basis. However, nice enough place if you’re in the area.

Dr Jekyll’s Pub is terribly managed and shows no respect to customers. We are from Australia and our local friends are the regular customers of this bar, highly recommended it to us. So we were just standing at the corner drinking enjoying ourselves. Despite a few drunken people harassing us, the security started to force our local friend out by pulling his arm. We were the most sober people and he insisted we had too much to drink. After complaining, the manager showed up with a beer in the hand and bloodshot eyes obviously had more drinks than us. He was unable to answer our questions but turned back to the bar. Two local police showed up but apparently were connected to the bar and just asked us to move to another place. We have been travelling around the world and one of us is managing director and the others is Vice President of multi-nation companies. We can’t imagine this happening in a highly developed country like Norway, Dr Jekyll’s Bar treat customers with such violence with no respect. There is corruption going on as well because not only the local police refused to help but accused us ‘being aggressive’. For God sake, we are the victims of violence and we being aggressive?? My local friends were totally stunt and we are disheartened. In certain way, Dr Jekyll’s bar has no difference with ones in a third world country. Please do NOT go to this bar or you will just be humiliated by the freaks running the bar.

A smallish place with a great beer list and equally great staff! Definitely worthe a look, and easy to reach in the very heart of Oslo.

One of the nicest bars in the city centre. Very good whisky selection and quite decent beer selection too. No beer menu, but most of the beer is visible from the bar and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. A couple of seats outside on the pavement for warm and sunny days (or for smokers - they have heating outside).

A really nice selection of Lambic. And the man behind the bar knew what he sold. This was during the midweek. In the weeken it was a different story. A young girl behind the bar did not have a clue what she sold. When I asked for an unblended Lambic. She ansvered: They did not blend the it. So everyone was unblended.

I have been to Jekylls for the past 6 years pretty much and what is fantastic about this place is that it always has been developing. Many of the staff that were there 6 years ago are still there for starters. They were one of the first to take in microbrews(these days they have around 100 beers) including some one offs as well like The Mikkeler Stella, they are on its way to create a vintage cellar for beers. What I understand as well is that now they have one of the absolute best whisky selections in the world. This place has pretty much everything to be honest. If you want to party there is a time for you as well, in the weekends after 2300 hours it is jammed with thirsty 23+ year olds and there is an absolute crazy wibe. If you want to relax and go through the fantastic selection come in the weekdays or early weekend nights! Then you can have a chat with the very knowledgeably staff...
