Very airily, open, and clean...as us this beautiful little city. Had some unique BA offerings on tap which was nice. Seems like they experiment a bit. Enjoyed the ambiance and the beer.

Very nice open clean brewpub, had some beers and appetizers on a busy afternoon. Great service, fast, friendly and well knowledgeable. Selection is good with a wide variety of there own beers and a few guest taps, even beer to go in growlers and cans. Food was pretty good, typical brew pub food. Value is about average. Overall a nice place with some pretty good beer, great atmosphere and good staff.

2010-06. Visited late on a Monday evening last June, this old Ford garage is a big, well-maintained space with good music. The guy behind the bar was quite knowledgeable about the beer and shared some stories with us. We tried a sampler of 10 of their brews; all were pretty good but I quite enjoyed the Sunrise Oatmeal PA and Vortex IPA. We ate the chips and salsa for a snack but saw others enjoying various fare. Our hotel picked us up in their 1946 Cadillac for a free ride back to the Cannery Pier Hotel, thus finishing off an excellent evening out. Would love to return one day.

(Visited 02/2010): Fort George brewing is a couple blocks away from the marina on Duane street. There is street parking nearby and they also have their own private lot. Easily walkable from Astoria Brewing if you park there as we found. The place has a very industrial look both outside and inside. The interior is relatively small with the L- shaped bar straight ahead and a giant chalkboard on both sides displaying the available beers. This chalkboard was exclaiming "Stout Month" on our visit, can’t go wrong there. The brewing equipment is visible behind glass in the rear. The motif is cinder blocks and metal, and the bathrooms have full on dioramas of frontier-type scenes. Fort George has about 10 beers available, from lighter fare like a Framboise to and IPA and the interesting Oatmeal Pale Ale. Being Stout Month, they had 5 different Stouts available including an Oyster Stout, Imperial Stout and Cherry Stout. In addition there were several guest taps like Old Rasputin and Abyss. They offered samplers of the Fort George beers, and were doing a separate sampler of all the Stouts (with an option to do it blind). Definitely my kind of place. Service was very good on a weekday afternoon. The bartenders were all friendly and had a good knowledge of all the beers they were pouring. They were also familiar with other beer-related destinations in the area. We did not try any food on this visit. Overall I would give Fort George the nod over Astoria Brewing as far as the beers, but there is no reason not to visit both on a visit to this town.

Nice big brewpub in a scenic little town. Lots of airy space and tons of metal artwork. Got a sampler of there beers, I think 14 in all. A few guest taps also. Service was great, did not have any food. A must visit if you are in the area.

I went here with BoFnJackson whose review is right below mine, and had a similarly great experience. The food was good, the space was nice and the service was helpful. I always cringe at ordering taster trays at brewpubs, because invariably half the offerings fall flat. This is the first time I’ve ever had a taster tray where I would unhesitatingly order a pint of anything offered. I also really appreciated Spencer taking the time to walk us around and talk about the brewery. Can’t wait for their new expansion. These guys know how to make good beer and they know how to run a nice establishment.

This is, hands down, the best brewpub experience I have ever had. Staff was amazingly friendly, and knowledgeable about the beers and happenings of the brewery. Great interior, with well crafted murals, carpentry, metal-work. The sample tray of beers all ranged from average, above average, to exceptional. We went on a Sunday, asked if we could get a brewery tour, our waiter said no brewers in house at the time but to come back the next day. So we did. And the head brewer, Spencer, took his own time (with full enjoyment and excitement) to show us around and show us the new expansion space. All around a classy establishment here. Astoria is lucky to have Fort George.

Small place with a nice, rustic feel to it. Large bar area, with some tables on the periphery. Service was awesome and friendly. The guy helping us was enthusiastic and informative. I had their beer sampler which included twelve brews(!), and he even gave me a zwickel of their yet unreleased Mango Manhandler. Awesome. The pan-seared oysters I had along with my beer were fantastic. They were fresh, served on a bed of high quality greens/veggies, and came with a killer homemade tartar sauce. Diverse crowd inside, and everyone was having a great time. Pretty cool how they serve their pints in mason jars too. I was even able to take a bottle of their North 3 to go. Sounds like they will be expanding soon, so I cannot wait to head back on my next trip to see how things have gone. Great little brewery with loads of hometown charm. Definitely stop in if you are in the area.

Arrived at Fort George coming from the Washington side of the Columbia River and in less than 3 minutes we found it. Good ole GPS thank you. An old automotive garage converted to be both a brewery and bakery that sits next door this was a great looking place. Had that old rustic feel and just like most other North West Brew pubs the brick walls the barrels in the front and the flavor of beer in the air. The massive bar was the first thing you see. We found a table and saw they had a great selection of beers. Over 12 taps at the ready. They had 8 of there own beers and 4 guest taps and stuff for the traveler you usually never see. It was cool to see some awesome beers where going to be tasted. We had a great lunch here. Tempted with the fresh crab salad but we decided to stick with what was a lot cheaper. Had a great time and the atmosphere was just perfect. The baseball game on the TV was going and the bar was pretty full. Parking was very easy and tons of it. Sampled 8 different beers off there sample tray. The service was pretty good and they knew the product. Sample tray was $10.00 wow too much for little beers. Fort George s going to be around for quite some time. The beers where very tasty. Loved the strong beers. And wow they also had some beers that where not billed to have much hops but they forgot to tell someone they had tons of hops in the beer. A must stop if in Astoria. The chalk art on the beer chalk boards is worth the trip. Some of the best chalk art I have ever seen.

I found this place a bit odd, but maybe that was primarily because a very alternative jazz band was playing very loud while we visisted. The place is decorated quite modernly. The brewery is visible behind glass walls from all over the pub and the brewer is very friendly. I had a sampler of 7 different beers, which is a quite good selection for a brewpub, and all solid beers.
