Brewpub in what seemed like an up-and-coming area of Columbus with some new large apartment complexes and mini strip malls. It is a fairly large open space with a long bar and tables. There is a stage for performances. A couple TVs over the bar. The tap list is fairly long with a decent sampling of styles. However, I found all the beers I tried to be fairly basic. No standouts. They don't make any food there, but do serve pizza from a local establishment (I didn't order any, but it didn't look great). I wanted to like this place but the beers are inferior to most other Columbus breweries.

Visited on a Thursday night. Located very close to Zauber. Smallish tap room that has the feel of an old garage. Atmosphere could use some work. Approximately 12 beers on tap, 4-beer flights available. Of the 4 beers we had, one was quite good and the other three needed some work. An alright stop, but enjoyed the two other breweries better.

Have only popped in briefly a few times, but like the hole-in-the-wall vibe. It was renovated recently and now has a longer bar and more seating. Food truck has been outside every time. Only 4string brews. Their standard line is solid and the one-offs often great. Wish they had more rarities in the taproom, but seems like it’s trending that way. No fuss, laid back. Hard to complain.

This is a true tap room. It has a very rough, industrial feel. They do have board games, a pinball machine and an old pac man video game. The beers are very good and they have a nice variety of styles. Service at the bar was good, but the place wasn’t too busy. No food but they do have the food trucks outside. There are nicer places to drink the basic Four String beers. Still an interesting stop in Columbus.

(Visited 08/2014): Four String’s tap room is located on West 6th and Gerrard between 5th and King. There is a small parking lot next to the building, as well as street parking in front.

The interior has changed since they opened. The bar runs along the right side of the long narrow space, and there are tables along the left wall and immediately past the entrance. Very DIY/rock and roll feel by design, with cinder block walls and an industrial feel. A large board behind the ball lists the beers on tap.

As for the beers, there are typically around 10 on tap, mostly their flagship beers like Brass Knuckle and Back Stage Blonde, as well as seasonal and more limited brews like the Solo Series. Samplers are available. The beers are typically decent, particularly the Solo stuff.

Service at the bar on my visits has been consistently good. The bartenders are knowledgeable and attentive.

Four String does not serve food but regularly has a food truck outside.

All in all this is another worthwhile addition to the Columbus brewery scene.

NOTE: as of November 2012, Four String has limited hours and only offers samples, tours, and beer and merchandise to go. Plans are to expand to a tasting room, though right now its samples only. Visited on a Thursday at 5pm, and was the only visitor. The owner, Dan, was really engaging, and took a lot of time giving me a tour, and telling me the Four Strings, and his own personal, history. Right now, Four Strings is focused on two beers, which I thought were both excellent - a Pale Ale, and a Belgian IPA. The brewery seems to be focused on the quality of these two brews, rather than having 50 different styles, which I appreciate. I like the vision and ambition of this brewery, and really hope they do well.
