Dwebs (2), , does not count - explanation | | March 6, 2012 Great small brewery, love it here. B.Y.O. Pic-Nic style tables and social atmosphere, kids/dogs/friends/whatever... anything goes. Miss the days of drinking from your growler, they’re so legit now. | | after4ever (176), Brier, Washington | | March 5, 2012 First and foremost for the beers--these guys turn out a nice lineup of IPAs and stouts, with other styles showing up regularly as well. You can find their kegs and bombers all over town these days, and you can find growlers of their beer filled and chilled and ready to go here at the brewery.
But when you come visit the place, you get a good experience to go with the good beer. It’s on the east side of the aurora bridge, away from most of the places where people go out for a beer in Fremont. It’s kind of its own little world, but that doesn’t stop it from getting a nice steady crowd.
You walk in and you know right away you’re in a working brewery. There’s a wall of bright tanks about 15 feet past the little foyer, with banquette seating cordoning off the working area from the drinking area. Past this is the register, where they fill tasters, schooners, and pints, and will you ring you up for growlers and bottle sales. They had Bourbon Barrel Abominable, capped and waxed, for sale in bombers yesterday. Nice!
Turn from the register and you get more banquette seating and a long beer hall table made of kegs and old lumber. There’s obviously a lot of rough and ready carpentry happening here; they clearly built the stairs and much of the upstairs offices themselves. It gives it a nice neighborhood feel, along with the sense that you’ll not be bilked on beers so they can pay off the contractor loan.
There’s a roll-up garage door at the end of the beer hall table, and you know this place is fun in nice weather. Even on a somewhat dreary Sunday afternoon, there were all kinds of people here enjoying themselves. As the afternoon wore on, musicians showed up, along with dogs and kids. All good signs--being dog-friendly and kid-friendly makes it easy for people to make it in here, and live music is a nice touch.
What they don’t really have here is food, aside from boxed pretzel sticks and maybe a couple other little bar snacks. They do have great service, though, and everything else about the place is a slightly offbeat and very welcoming addition to the Seattle beer scene. | | BrewDad (360), Olympia, Washington | | January 29, 2012 Sort of out of the way in the Fremont area. Just watch the turn or you will be going over a bridge which makes Garmen mad and no U turns on a bridge. Great tap room with the brewery right there. Good beers on tap and you find a few extras at the tap room. | cblado (4), Washington does not count - explanation | | July 19, 2011 My favorite brewery in Seattle. Incredible beers. It’s a small scale operation, but these guys are really creative. Plus, their "urban beer garden" is probably the most fun I’ve had getting drunk in a warehouse. Definitely worth a visit! | | CampesinoTino (57), Seattle, Washington | | May 30, 2011 Great place to swing by for pints and growlers of fresh hoppy beer. They also sell bottles and some brewery swag. Definitely looking forward to trying all their brews. | | eboats (32), Omaha, Nebraska | | February 23, 2011 So I was walking through a neighborhood looking for this brewery, and it turns out it is part of the neighborhood. Just a big garage opened up with the mash tons in the back. Open seating to everyone that wants to come buy. Lots of people stop here when they walk their dogs. There is even a toy box for people that have children. There were free pretzels and nuts, and any food you want to bring in you are welcomed to. All they serve here is beer, and the prices are cheap. The simplistic nature of this establishment truly charmed me. | | philbertk (15), Seattle, Washington | | November 29, 2009 Garage door Entrance to Working brewery. Picnic table seating. Cold. Limited, but good quality brews. Eclectic in keeping with Fremont reputation. |
