Gavoras is the best place to stop for beer in Fairbanks that I’ve found so far. They have a great selection of West Coast, Alaska, and some European beers you wouldn’t expect to find in AK. The staff is friendly, open to suggestions, and keeps the store very clean and organized. I really can’t think of anything negative to say about this place.

This is an excellent oasis by many liquor store’s standards. In addition to a large selection on Midnight Sun beers, they have plenty of Belgians and English ales to choose from. There seems to be a nice wine selection, but I really would not know. The owner really is passionate about beer, and the cooler speaks to that.

I won’t say that Fairbanks is a beer wasteland, but there really aren’t that many places selling anything much more than the everyday BMC and Alaskan Brewing products. This place has a nice selection of Alaskan beers, Midnight Sun, Silver Gulch and some nice US Micro-brews (Avery, Elesian etc). They have a small but nice selection of Belgian. Rodenbach & Rochefort. The sales person when I was there seemed very interested in adding to their inventory. Asked what kind of beer I would want to see there etc. Worth a stop if in the area.
