Seemed a little run down compared to what I was expecting in my head. I had a flight and wasn’t that impressed with any of the beers. Food was also just average bar food. Probably wouldn’t go back.

You can’t top the atmosphere at the General Lafayette, especially if you like old, historical inns. Nicely detailed interior with a number of appealing dark corners, which probably were perfect for helping to plot the overthrow of the British. The beer was fresh and tasty, and apparently brewed right there. Beer samplers are available too. I would also like to put in a good word for our charming waitress, Jenna. The food was a bit disappointing, however. None of our party was delighted with their meal. The mussels I had were OK, but not very fresh. There were good points, tho: the french fries were good, and the freshly baked beer bread was as good a bread as I can remember having! I definitely recommend a visit.

The ambiance here is perfect. A gem in the Philly area if your talking about historic buildings. A nice big seating area separate from the bar area which is nice since there are TV’s and live events in the bar. Ate and watched a Phillies game in the bar area the food wasn’t bad for pub grub. The beer was average, but I still tried 4 different ones so they were quality! If your in the area and love history definitely give this place a try.

Stopped in late on a Sunday. Place was almost empty except for a few locals which made for a fun atmosphere. All the beers I had were pretty good with exception to The Phantom which was incredible. Strong smell of wood smoke inside. didn’t have any food but I was eying up the guy next to me’s quesadilla. Looked tasty. Prices were fair for the area.

Great woodwork and character. Service is adequate. Nothing exceptional. Has a very good meal. Affordable samplers.

Definitely has the colonial aesthetic; lots of wood and not exactly what you’d call spacious not that that was a problem. Good beer, obviously popular with regulars, a good layout. Wish I had tried the food but I then again that’s an excuse to go back.

The bar is a dark Irish-like pub. Another section is a rather nice space reserved for the restaurant. An overall classy look. When I was there they had more than 10 beers on tap including 2 casks. They also had a separate list for vintage 22oz bottles Ɩ of them) for about $18 each. I stuck to the taps. I enjoyed many of the beers there, I even scored a 4.0. Many adventurous beers that go outside the beaten path of Stout/IPA/Pils/etc. We had a quick lunch meal, affordable, good quality, but small portions. I cannot comment about the dinner menu but given my lunch meal I can only assume that the dinner menu kicks ass. Really worth a detour.

Not too difficult a place to find but it’s not my cup of tea, so to speak.

A great building. It had been years since I had been here but it’s still about the same. Casual and with a very authentic old historic feel. Wish I lived closer, I’d make this a regular place to go. Always a number of pretty good brews on tap and the food is better than decent.

Didn’t eat here, but sat for a while and tried some samples. The ambiance is completely terrific and you feel like you’re sitting in an old pub from the 1700s (as I would imagine and without TVs). Anyway, the service was good and the beers were solid. I’d like to stay here some time and be able to crawl up to a room when I was done drinking. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.
