tripel_trouble (7), Houston, Texas does not count - explanation | | May 24, 2012 We came here after the Cubbies lost another heartbreaker to the White Sox this past weekend. I’ve heard about Goose Island from many of my friends and I have to say, they make a pretty good beer. We tried a few beers that you just can’t get in Houston and they were very good. Selection isn’t massive but they aren’t trying to serve you over 100 different taps. Food was great. While I would have preferred to sit downstairs with the rest of the raucous crowd, upstairs had its advantages as the servers weren’t covering 30 different tables and they were alot more attentive. When I get back to Chicago, I will definitely visit again. | | Sammy (408), Toronto, Ontario | | May 9, 2012 Very friendly place, and a nice place to walk about in daytime. The girls do not know their beers, and the beers are decent but not cutting edge. A few decent bottles. Prices very reasonable. Long bar, lots of tables. | demmbonz (7), Wisconsin does not count - explanation | | April 12, 2012 Not a bad place. Went after a ball game and it wasn’t insanely busy, although it’s still April and not that nice out yet so the crowds are smaller. The only thing I would have liked to see is a few more guest taps as I am not a huge fan of Goose Island stuff. I think they had two guest taps and one was empty. | | JoePeesie (63), Long Lake, Illinois | | March 11, 2012 Great place to grab a brew before or after a Cubs game. During these times the place is wall to wall baseball fans and service slows a bit but the food a beers are both solid and the "local talent" is top notch. | IanIPA (8), Tinley Park, Illinois does not count - explanation | | January 5, 2012 I do not suggest going here during or after a Cubs game. It is over crowded and not enjoyable. When there is no Cubs game it is better. Like Clybourn pub it has all the normal Goose selection plus ones they only brew in house and not available anywhere else. It is larger than the Clybourn pub but that is the only plus when comparing the two. The staff seemed rushed and my food was not the best. Maybe is was expecting Clybourn when I shouldn’t have. Still in Wrigleyville which is cool | | BVery (227), Burnsville, Minnesota | | October 9, 2011 Visited before a Cubs game. Didn’t eat, but did sample a number of beers. Kind of crowded, and the selection isn’t as extensive as the Clybourn location, but still - Goose Island beer in the shadow of Wrigley Field - not a bad thing. | | JulienHuxley (64), Trois-Rivieres, Quebec | | July 24, 2011 A big bar on the corner of Wrigley Field. We visited this place before the game to fill up on some good beers instead of drinking bud light in the stadium. It was pretty full of cubs fans, if you’re not into baseball, you may want to check the Cubs’ schedule before visiting. We got excellent service though, there was a decent selection of beers on tap and bottled (not as complete as Clybourne, but close nonetheless). The food was good ans the value on your dollar was reasonable. Not the best beer stop in Chicago, but fun to have close to the game. | | Boutip (49), Gatineau, Quebec | | April 29, 2011 Huge brewpub located very close tot Wrigley field which makes it very convenient to stop after a Cubs game. There is loads of seating space with a room for a stage at the back. Waiter were very nice (though place was practically empty when we visited). Beer is selection, which should be no surprise, is very nice with excellent choice between bottle and draft). Food was very good with perfect cooking of burgers and nice selection of side dish. Prices were fair and very competitive with surrounding restaurants. I would highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area or maybe going to one of the other locations. | | jrallen34 (207), Chicago, Illinois | | March 31, 2011 I went her before a Cubs game. I’ve been to the LP local, which I prefer. The wrig locale is much bigger which is nice, but a little too much going on. The staff did not seem as knowledagle as the primary, a little disappointed in there suggestions. All upset they ran out of two beers and did not quickly replace them. At the primary when that happened I remember getting a new menu right away. The selection of beer was ok, nothing special. They had most of the GI staples only a 2 or 3 special beers and none of which were great. I understand this is different crowd then at the primary but its for sure a lessor experience. If you want GI go to the primary, if you’re drinking before the Cubs game, its ok. | schultz1972 (2), does not count - explanation | | February 3, 2011 The best time to go to this site is NOT on a Cubs game day. It’s fine for a Cubs game, but it won’t be a heck of a lot different than most of the bar experiences you’ll have in that neighborhood.
However, the food is usually quite good and I crave the beer-cheese nachos. I also have to admit that the thier Cubbie Blueberry beer is pretty good stuff. Normally, I stick with a 312, but if you can get a Vanilla Stout, I recommend it. |
