July 17, 2009 A fair brew pub in a great location. I’ve been here a few times and can echo the sentiments that time has passed this place. The beers are fairly traditional and tend towards the malt heavy types. The selection is also quite limited.
As to the food, it is typical "fern bar" fair. My companions sampled the range from burgers to fish and salad and no one came away with any high remarks. But, no one had a bad meal. I would come here the next time I was in the area, but I would not make a special trip. |

July 13, 2009 Until this visit, I hadn’t been to a Gordon Biersch since 2002, and back then I thought it was high-class beer. How things change...
This one has a nice facility in a great location near the arena and ball-park. Somehow seemed way less unique and innovative than it did in 2002. The menu didn’t look like it had changed a bit (BBQ Chx Pizza, garlic fries, etc) nor did the beers. The beer selection is pretty short, and boring. The beer descriptions seemed geared toward making them seem more exciting than they actually were - schwarzbier is dark - true, but tastes boring. Czech pilsner was probably the most exciting beer on the menu, and far from thrilling.
Service was just average, and the food was pretty good. I think time has passed this place by - seemed to me like an Applebee’s with slightly better beer. I will likely be back, but due to great location and lack of nearby competition rather than for a love of the place. |

August 24, 2008 I hit the place on Sunday evening. Nothing but standard beers available. I thought every Gordon Biersch had specialties? Therefore the beer selection was below average. The service was really bad. |

December 7, 2006 Fun place to hang with friends. Nice menu, portions are HUGE. Went with a friend who is vegetarian and had no problems finding something for her. |

January 24, 2006 We go here about every four-six months, depending on our budget at the time. Very nice modern yet cozy atmosphere, and we haven’t experieced any bad service whatsoever and on certain occassions it’s been great service. The beers are decent, if not good and you can try samples of everything they have on tap for five cents. Beyond that, their selection is pretty standard. The food may be pricey, but you do get a lot of food...my favorite is the hanger steak. Not a bad place to go if you have the extra money burning a hole in your pocket. |

January 20, 2006 Nice restaurant in the arena district. Food is fair although a tad on the pricy side. Beers are fair. Nothing outstanding but all of it is pretty middle of the road for the styles. Definitely worth a stop before a hockey game though if you are in the area. Crowded on game night though. |

November 12, 2005 Gordan Biersch as stated does have the highest murder rate ( ahhhw that was an accident?!!?) and some very well produced beers ( I don’t know if I’d kill for ’em.) the Marzen is one of their best and the serving is large. it is a very traditional style and disapears from it’s glass with ease. they also have seasonals that can be interesting. I had dinner their only once, but don’t remember it having anything in common with a German dining experiance. I do remember alot of asian fusion and pasta dishes that were a little bit pricey for their quality. worth a stop on that downtown beer tour night. and if you can’t get to the brewery you can always pick up a six at most carry-outs and some grocery stores. |
