March 25, 2012 Neighborhood market around the corner from Hamiltons Tavern that has an ever increasing selection of local craft beer. Go for lunch as the sandwiches are legit. Beerwise, they have all the stone, ballast, alesmith local stuff and a request board where you can write stuff you want them to get (Bells please). Good spot to check out. |
February 19, 2010 Although Grant’s has been in the neighborhood for a while now they are just getting into the Craft beer scene. Their selection is mainly local San Diego stuff, Ballast Point, Alesmith, Port and Lost Abbey, Lightning, GreenFlash, and Stone to name a few. They have a couple of refrigerated sections with 750ml and bombers of these local beers, and a few refrigerated sections with various larger craft beer and import 6 packs, and 12 packs. The other beers in the coolers vary from Dale’s and Maui cans to Duvel. The newest addition is two non-refridgerated shelving units with various beers from San Diego regulars, Allagash, The Bruery, Jolly Pumpkin, Brew Dog, and some Belgian imports as well. Recent highlights include Russian River Supplication, Lost Abbey Bourbon Angel’s Share 2009, Allagash Odyssey, and Rodenbach Grand Cru. The place is not solely a beer store so although the service is always friendly and helpful, not everyone is a beer expert. But they know as much as most people at Bev Mo or Whole Foods. I know they have ben working to get a better and better selection and they are reasonably priced imo. A side note Grant’s is less than a 100 yard walk from Hamilton’s Tavern, so if your there check this place out. |
