12 reviews for Greens Beverage Warehouse - Columbia (Fernandina Rd)
Pookie9121 (9), Columbia, South Carolina does not count - explanation | | August 20, 2009 Sister location to the one downtow. This one is in a much larger building. More selection of single bottles than the downtown location. Excellent selection. Definite recommendation. | whatalesya (6), , North Carolina does not count - explanation | | April 8, 2009 [ Updated May 29, 2009 ] Good selection, but not great. A lot of the beer was in 4 or six packs, with only a limited selection of singles. No help in the isles but when I found someone and asked for a box to put my selections in, the guy was friendly and quickly produced an empty 6 pack carton. As the name suggests, the place is a warehouse, like a Sam’s club for beer, but the pricing is a little on the high side. | USCBeerMan (7), Columbia, South Carolina does not count - explanation | | March 30, 2009 Best selection for the beer shopper in columbia | | Gmku (16), Asheville, North Carolina | | July 23, 2008 Rather a split-personality kind of experience, this place. The beer lover who’s noticed the pitiful unavailability of beer of any worth in the town’s grocery stores will be overjoyed on the selection here. But be prepared for service that is absolutely in the toilet. You can wander the aisles completely ignore, and try asking for help if you don’t mind getting your head chewed off. The most unfriendly, surly staff I have encountered anywhere. It’s enough to keep me out of the store, actually, and do with the average Flying Dog I can find in Bi-Lo or the better imports in the package store on Ft. Jackson, where they always call me Sir. Goodbye, Greens. | jrmac (6), does not count - explanation | | March 25, 2008 Pathetic service, in fact no service to speak of. The staff knows little to nothing aabout any beer on the shelf save the mainstream stuff. Better off going elsewhere and supporting a smaller retailer. | | tronraner (100), Seymour, Tennessee | | January 28, 2008 I’m writing from memory here, so I haven’t visited since the change in SC alcohol laws. I’ll update when I do. Big warehouse style store focused mostly on wine (they have a house sommelier), but with a few aisles of beer as well. It’s situated right on the interstate, which makes it a very convenient stop when passing through Columbia. | Anglofile (7), Piti, Guam does not count - explanation | | October 12, 2006 A must stop location when traveling to or from Myrtle Beach. Large selection. South Carolina alcohol laws are strange. | | bitter (90), Henderson, Nevada | | May 2, 2006 i had never been in a two sided liquor store. suppose some law about mixing beer/wine with harder stuff. beer selection was average at best. i did get a bottle of coach spurrier wine though. probably wont find that in many places. | | NachlamSie (209), Tennessee | | February 1, 2006 [ Updated August 21, 2009 ] Pretty decent beer selection here: a few micros, quite a bit of imports. There’s always something I’d like to try here. The best thing about Green’s is the price. It’s so cheap. This doesn’t really hold a candle to the Atlanta locations due to SC beer laws, but it’s worth a stop to stock up if in the area. [August 20, 2009] Ah, how Green’s has vastly improved what with the new laws and whatnot. The beer selection is not out of control. Lots of rare gems like Mekeller, Oskar Blues, Ballast Point, Founders, Reaper Ales, etc. etc. Prices are fair or cheap. I asked some questions and received great answers and helpfulness. I shall return. | | bu11zeye (112), Frisco, Texas | | October 16, 2005 Descent selection of German and English, couple French and Blegian, five Indian, few Carribean , and local beers in six packs. Best bottle selection in the area. |
