RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Green’s has a large selection similiar to Jax in Sandy Springs but the locations may be more accessible depending where in Atlanta you are. The place is a bit cleaner than Jax where even the new bottles seem to have a layer of dust on them. You’ll be able to find all the local stuff here, plus a large selection imports and micros, but, like the rest of Atlanta liquor stores, they seem to focus more on the imports and less on the micros. One location is at 737 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE and the other is at 2612 Buford HWY NE. Green’s website has a link to Ratebeer.com. Check ’em out!

kpresley77 (3), Jackson, Georgia does not count - explanation | | September 1, 2008 Bring CASH. You get a discount if you pay in cash. This place had the best selection of great beers I have ever been in. I drove an hour just to get here and it was well worth it. They carry a lot of 22oz bombers which I really like. | | dmtroyer (19), Harrisonburg, Virginia | | June 25, 2008 Everyone keeps complaining about this part of town, but I had a nice drive over after a delightful brunch at the flying biscuit. Two cashiers seemed to be the only staff, but the were very friendly and helped me with the price of an item. Prices, by the way, are very good. I’m not sure what the laws are but they seem much better on beer and wine than in virginia. Selection was very good, but nothing too unseen. They need the most help with domestic craft brews, which is not a bad problem to have. Some of the dates on things were sketchy, not a problem with some beers but there are some I like as fresh as possible and it is kind of hit or miss as they seem to buy a lot at one time. That said, I will return next time in the ATL. | | gunhaver (12), Tampa, Florida | | June 2, 2008 Not the greatest part of town, but easy to get to off of I-75. Compared to Tampa stores, this place is heaven. Lots of good American micros, a badass Belgian walk-in cooler, and very good prices. Plenty of sixers to choose from and a lot of good deals and bargains. Help was there if ya needed ’em, nothing special in that area. | | decaturstevo (55), decatur, Tennessee | | March 25, 2008 Very greenish place. They have a large selection of beers a few singles and a nice selection of beers hidden in the cooler. Very strange place to get to you gotta pass through a very creepy part of town. The beer selection is good and the prices are right in line with where they should be. Gotta stop if in the area. | | pint_size (18), Austin, Texas | | March 6, 2008 Only been once and I spent over two hours there surrounded by beer. I wish they could open a Greens in Austin. The ambiance sucks but I don’t care. In 2 hours - no one came up and offered any help - but again I didn’t really care. Overall, the selection is unmatched and very exciting for someone who can’t easily access these beers in Texas. It is stuffy and cramped. The beer freezer room is interesting but starts to feel like an icy coffin after a while. Regardless of the way it looks - the selection is just too good to pass up. | pastemaker (4), Decatur, Georgia does not count - explanation | | March 4, 2008 The high gravity beer freezer is just about my favorite 20 square feet in Atlanta. Great prices, fantastic selection. Who cares if the ambiance is equal to a K-Mart? | | BigMilly8 (22), Holiday, Florida | | March 2, 2008 They have a pretty good selection. Only wish there were more singles, alot of the stuff i went to get were only available in 6-pack, but thats ok, i make do. The place was crowded as all get out, and no real help to be found. Prices were pretty good, and selection was as well. Nice place | | colemgm8 (10), Alpharetta, Georgia | | February 16, 2008 [ Updated July 5, 2008 ] great beer store in ATL, they have a walk in Belgian cellar.. very cool. Great selection overall... a bit farther for me, so I usually hit the Buford hwy location. | | ajm (68), California | | January 30, 2008 [ Updated August 14, 2008 ] What works against this place is that most of the locals (Sweetwater, Atlanta Brewing, etc.) only bottle in 6 packs. So if you’re a suitcase smuggler like me, you have to ignore the local stuff for reasons of packing. Other than that, a fine example of a liquor store, good selection (maybe just different from the West coast). | ElGaucho56 (4), does not count - explanation | | December 30, 2007 Well, it may not be the most attractive place to go, but the beer selection alone makes this a place worthy of stopping by. They’ve got beers no one else in Atlanta can get, and constantly seem to be expanding their selection. There’s about two guys (one’s called Brian) who know their stuff there, but if you can find them, they’re more than willing to help you out. Excellent Belgian selection, nice collection of vintage JWL and Hardy’s, tons of stuff to enjoy, and great prices too. | View Page : 1 2 3 4 5
