nearbeer | Pretty good selection of sixers, not so great on singles. Average-to-good prices, sort-of friendly staff.

Retorp | Pretty much just like all the other Greens. Decent selection, great prices and even better prices when you pay cash. Not nearly as good as the Georgia Greens, but definitely worth a stop and I managed to spend about a hundred bucks so there is definitely some good beer to be had. Also had most of the SC craft brews I am familiar with.

NachlamSie | Holy cow. Given that the other Green’s in Columbia is so big, I was expecting this one to be the smaller sister store. Well, it’s at least as large with an even more extensive beer selection. South Carolina just raised the 6% cap maybe three months ago maximum, and Green’s is already tearing the roof off. They already built a climate controlled cellaring room which is much like the one in the Ponce location in Atlanta. I wish the American micro selection was a bit more extensive, but it’s decent. Imports abound here and after a few more months they should get an even better selection. I’ve seen some imports here I’ve never even heard of (granted they looked horrible). As usual, Green’s has some awesome prices. If I ever come through Columbia again, I’m going to this location.

PorterPounder | Large warehouse type liqupor store on the edge of downtown. Several dozen local and regional six packs available as soon as you walk in the door and also in the cooler. Aisle full of common but good Belgians, English Ales, German lagers and a few Eastern Europe big bottle singles. Bonus - walk in climate controlled cellar - first time I have ever seen one of these. Has a few dozen bombers and 750 mls in here. Only complaint about the store - no micro singles. Overall, a very decent selection for a state just coming into the high gravity beer world. Will visit again as my work will bring me to Columbia often.
