| GodOfThunder (24), Orlando, Florida | | September 14, 2011 Awesome place! A cool little bar with an awesome outdoor view of the skyline. Beer selection was very good. Service was good, knowledgeable about the beer, but could seem a little busy at times to help a non-regular. Seemed to be a lot of regulars there. The food kicked ass. The pizza with smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers rocked! I really enjoyed this place. | | SudsMcDuff (112), .....Manchester United.........., Texas | | July 15, 2011 An interesting beer spot in KC, alternative is the word .. punks and hippies, with a good dose of drunk dikes. my tattooed covered waitress was friendly, but my first 3 choices of beer were all sold out, so basically this place was a pizza place, no more. but the pizza i had was amazing and sandwich my mom had was also amazing. i enjoyed my stop- but not having a good beer with dinner killed the score.. and the bathroom was disgusting and full of flies... | | Strebs (76), St. Louis, Missouri | | July 6, 2011 Funky is definitely the word to be used to describe Grinder’s. Add great pizza and good beer and this place is a winner. The fact that the brewers from Boulevard hang out in here should be enough to recommend it. | | bblack99 (30), Kansas City, Missouri | | May 15, 2010 How have I never rated this place?!? Grinder’s is a funky spot in the Crossroads Art District that I first visited after seeing the local establishment on Food Network several years ago. They have an eclectic set of food (and BEER) offerings, ranging from Bengal Tiger pizza to deathly-hot wings to fantastic Philly cheese steaks. Clusters of taps include nice rotations of semi-unique brews mixed with the standard local offerings. Bottle selection is sometimes amazing, and almost always above average. Not the cheapest place to get a drink and a meal, and certainly not the fastest service when busy, but a great atmosphere and nice people. | | KapitiCritique (32), Kansas City, Missouri | | January 6, 2010 It’s a dive. But it’s a great dive. If you like rustic, gnarly, beat-up, split-wood floors and pressed tin ceilings with grotty paint, cheap naugahyde (i.e. 1950’s decor) with sassy serving wenches, paper plates, rude fliers tacked up everywhere, blue- collar-cow-town hicks and suits under one roof with a good beer selection, you’ll like Grinder’s. Grinder’s West (never been there myself) is next door and serves the same food with a little better clientele (i.e. the snooty and pretentious). The value rating on this so far is off in my opinion. The portions are large, the prices reasonable, the food is good--less than 80% is not accurate in my opinion. | | foppa78 (12), Lees Summit, Missouri | | December 10, 2009 Very interesting place. The food is pretty good and the beer selection is very nice. They always have a good amount of beer on tap and many bottles. | | CH47 (14), Kansas | | October 11, 2009 [ Updated October 28, 2009 ] Located in the Crossroads District of Downtown KCMO, Grinders has niched themselves into the Beer, Art, Food & Music community. The ambiance is of an excellent dive with plenty of art from regulars and locals. The craft beer selection is quite possibly the best in the KC metro area. Grinders menu contains a wonderful selection of pub grub which includes Proper Phillys’s and Hot wings and NY style pizza which is out of this world. The waitstaff is quite knowledgeable their disposition adds to the feel of the dive ambiance that I look forward to. Music selection is usually "whoever’s" iPod. There is a small venue located out back that pulls in some decent shows. Grinders has expanded onto a different front, rather west with Grinder’s West which is a completely different cuisine but also delicious. | | aaronphazel (10), Missouri | | August 19, 2009 Nice selection of beers without having to go to the Power and Light crap hole. Good food. Have caught some nice shows in the back. | stevefilb (4), Missouri does not count - explanation | | August 3, 2009 two 4 one slices on sundays! | | CanIHave4Beers (69), Des Moines, Iowa | | May 15, 2009 I liked the looks of this place, very hole in the wall like! You could just smell the grease, and the night we went they had Cake playing out back so the music was good too. The young lady who served me a beer impressed me as she seemed to care quite a bit about my order despite the fact that the whole bar was packed, I was pretty impressed. The beer selection was nice, a few interesting things on tap... of course plenty of Boulevard. I got a Southampton Altbier and the wife had a Bells Cherry stout. Pretty nice place. |
