sharkweek (6), Ludowici, Georgia does not count - explanation | | April 24, 2012 I read about this place on BA and decided to make the trek this morning with some friends. We traveled about 80 miles one way to get this store, but it was defiantly worth the trip. Growlers has just about every major craft brewery represented that you can think of well stocked. There are plenty of selections from Bell’s, Rouge, Dogfish head, and The Great Divide are all well represented. There is also plenty of local breweries from GA to SC represented. The centerpiece of this location however is the Growler bar. The owner gladly served my pals and I samples until we arrived at our desired selections. I settled on the Sierra Nevada Fresh Hop Celebration Ale, quite delish I must say. All in all I love this store and recommend it to anyone seeking out great beer. I will be back eventually and will continue to spread it’s praises. | | pintocb (21), Darsville, Georgia | | April 2, 2012 GREAT shop. We got a half gallon growler of Coast HopArt IPA. 16 taps, and a lot of great bottles. My go to shops, Green’s and Hop City, both have a better selection....especially with Lambics and Belgian beers, but for a spring break trip this place freaking rocks.
Don’t believe google maps for the location. It’s in the Piggly Wiggly shopping center. | | BOLTZ7555 (56), Phoenix, Arizona | | March 23, 2012 Located about three shops down from a grocery store. Really cool little shop with a myriad of bottles to choose from and a row of taps in the back that provided various-sized growler fills. Lots of southern brews to chose from that we don’t get on the west coast. Loved this place! | | fiver29 (48), Cleveland, Ohio | | February 4, 2012 I visited here last summer on a family vacation. Best place on the island to buy craft beer. Hands down.
Located in a strip mall next to a grocery store. The owner also owned the wine shop a couple doors down. So we were able to pick up some wine for the wine drinkers and I got some great craft beer. A handful of taps that the workers are more than happy to let you sample if you like. Hundreds of bottles to choose from. There wasn’t anything crazy on tap. I was just happy to be able to get some out of market beer to enjoy throughout the week.
I even went back to share a Hoppin Frog BORIS Royale since they seemed interested. So I enjoyed the place and was happy to share a couple pints here with family and the nice employees at this fine establishment. | | dpjuart (10), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | June 16, 2011 Having second-hand knowledge of how sparse the craft scene could be on Hilton Head Island, this place is a welcomed addition. Growlers has 16 rotating taps to fill growlers to-go. They have regular 1/2 gallon, 1 gallon, and 1 litre swingtops for sale, fill, and refill. Draft prices are reasonable, though some of the bigger beers get upwards of $16 for fills. The 1 liter swingtops, though, cost half of the regular 1/2 gallon fills, and make these bigger beers a bit more manageable, both for the wallet and the gullet. As of July 2010, they had close to 500 different bottles with lots of locals plus some stuff you wouldn’t expect to find in SC. If you are on HHI, be sure to hit this place. | | jw0406 (29), atlanta, Georgia | | May 1, 2011 Best place on the island to get craft beer. Got some stuff I can’t get in GA like bear republic and coronado. Staff working was very friendly and told be where to eat with good beer on the island. Great place | lambchop (6), South Carolina does not count - explanation | | April 1, 2011 Very friendly staff. A little short on offerings but superb for the island. I’m kinda spoiled living in Chas with CBX, but this place is money and you cant find any better within 100 miles. | | ScottButler (12), | | August 27, 2010 Fantastic store, I was thrilled to find it. Growlers, and plenty of craft beers to choose from, including plenty of Mikkeller and Hitachino Nest (some that I was looking for). | seanroto (2), Maryland does not count - explanation | | August 16, 2010 Been coming to hilton head island for on our annual beach trip for years. Never had a great selection of beers except whatever the local supermarkets carried. The selection and knowledge here is excellent. Growler selection makes me wish i had a store like this close to home. Only downside i can see is lack of discount for bulk or cases. | | alleycat (13), Indiana | | June 15, 2010 Glad we found this tap room while on vacation. Was told that next week they will be able to serve samples, which will greatly improve the service. Great selection of local, national, seasonal and international brews. Some homebrew supplies also. |
