| swoopjones (115), Buffalo, New York | | October 12, 2009 Great looking bar. ten to 12 casks. real comfortable seating. beautifully decorated. Lots of casks I hadnt tried yet. | | TimE (130), Tokyo, Japan | | October 5, 2009 Didn’t really like this place. Can’t put my finger on why not, but just didn’t have the same friendly atmosphere I found in a lot of Edinburgh pubs perhaps. Interesting beers and nice place, but not somewhere I wanted to hang out for more than one beer. | trapped (4), , Turkey does not count - explanation | | September 24, 2009 Impressive place with high ceilings and nice decoration although seems to target tourists primarily. The labels and explanations about the guest beers were similar to a fast food place. The food was mediocre. The staff was nice and helpful. They had 4 guest ales at the time. | | ogivlado (145), Zagreb, Croatia | | September 9, 2009 The best Edinburgh place that I’ve visited during my stay there. Just few meters away from Cafe Royal Circle Bar. At the time I was there -3 p.m. only few people inside. Cozy atmosphere, friendly service. 8 cask beers of which I’ve tried two. Highly recomended. | | thewolf (123), Kolding, Denmark | | August 4, 2009 This was my best experience, beer-wise, in Edinburgh. Lots of fresh casks, which were all rather high quality. Quite difficult to find, unless you’re coming from Princess Street. Very friendly service, despite a rather busy night. We went here more than once. | | gary07734 (23), , England | | February 23, 2009 Decent quiet old pub with some cozy corners to hide in and while away the hours. We visited for 2 quick pints during a beer festival, they had about 10 pumps on with various scottish beers. Not too exepensive, but rather hot... perhaps the heating was on so high because most of the clientelle were of a pensionable age? | | Rune (87), Tromsø, Norway | | December 1, 2008 Very pleasant and comfortable central pub with a relaxing atmosphere. Eight hand pumps in function. All our ales were found to be in prime condition. Ultra fast changing range of guest ales. Orkney’s Dark Island seems to be usually available. Classic décor. Many guests come here to drink real ale. Restaurant upstarts on a balcony overlooking the pub. Guest beers are displayed on a blackboard at the rear of the bar (visited serveral times in late Oct. and early Nov. 08). | | Ungstrup (245), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | March 22, 2008 A beutiful pub, very busy when we visited in a late lunch hour of some festival. 9 beers on cask, though all well known to me. | | Jonte (31), Gothenburg, Sweden | | March 13, 2008 Nice Victorian pub centraly located near the trainstation. Big selection of cask ales in good condition. Food served in the evening, but I didn´t try it. A sure re-visit next time I´m in Edinburgh. | | rlgk (80), Vårgårda, Sweden | | September 17, 2007 Quite crowded when I visted. Nice, very brittish pub, quite a nice selection and with decent staff. |
