| Travlr (639), Washington, Washington DC | | April 7, 2012 A large warehouse brewery with lots of room for expansion, plus a tasing bar up front. All beers are free, which of course is very nice. The Singel was available in its natural state, or pulled through a Randell with pineapple, citra hops and a touch of ginger. A new DIPA was also available plain or with peppercorn. They have a 20 gallon homebrew system, and occasionally offer experimental beers from that in addition to their regular range. Very friendly staff. Definitely the highlight of my beer tour of Richmond. | | Butters (164), Richmond, Virginia | | March 5, 2012 This place is EASILY the best brewery in Richmond, probably all of VA, and will probably fall inline to be one of the top 10 breweries on the east coast if they can continue to put out the amazing quality beer that they have debuted with this past year. The facility has lots fo room for expansion, and the owners are all stand up dudes. While this brewery isn’t a "must tour" brewery, their beers are a "MUST SEEK OUT AT ALL COSTS" if you are passing through the RVA. | | hubrew22 (10), Virginia | | March 2, 2012 Awesome new craft brewery in Richmond. Really looking forward to what these guys will do in the future. | | Foxbush (29), Richmond, Virginia | | January 14, 2012 This is the brewery so food is not served. The owners Patrick and Eric are very accessable. This is great place to stop by after work and taste their beers. They will fill growlers and have tours. The porter will be available soon. They appear to be sold out for their capacity at this time. Support your local brewer. | | Braudog (611), Hampton, Virginia | | January 1, 2012 December 2011. Stopped by during a 3-hour opening of the small tasting room. A tour was going on which meant we could get to the bar -- as soon as it ended, the bar was swarmed. They’ll give you about a 4 oz taste of anything they have on -- they had just 3 the day we visited, including a really unique gingerbread stout. Big warehouse brewery with gorgeous, brand-new equipment. Took a small growler with us. I wish them luck. Brewery #571. | | Kinz (42), Glen Allen, Virginia | | November 19, 2011 Finally made it over to check out Richmond’s newest brewery. Comfortable tasting room. They are just getting started, so only two beers to sample, their excellent flagship beer Singel, and the extremely nice Farmhouse Pumpkin, which was almost, almost gone. Nice little walk around by the owner/brewer that included sampling off the fermenter of a spiced imperial stout they are making. Definitely worth a stop, and will become a regular growler fill drive by for me. The beers they have made so far have been very well done, really raising the bar in the area. | | bialover (11), Virginia | | October 25, 2011 The BEST Brewery in Richmond.
Hardywood Park Singel is the best trappist style Blonde period | | nevets4433 (26), , | | October 22, 2011 [ Updated October 23, 2011 ] Small brewery in an industrial park...just getting started now. Pretty good beers so far, and I’m looking forward to new ones as they come out. | | Drake (295), Charlottesville, Virginia | | October 14, 2011 Located in an industrial park. There was enough parking. This is a BRAND new brewery so while they are open to the public, there are still some things going on construction-wise. Today they were putting the sign on the front of the brewery. Large tasting room in front of a massive brewery operation. These guys have room to expand for sure. A bar in the center of the room got pretty crowded. Only two beers were being offered at the time, but they have 8 taps, so variety should increase in the future. Samples were free. Beers were good. Growlers are cheap for glass ($5) and fills are on the high side of reasonable. A little bit of swag was available (glasses, hats, bumper stickers). Really cool, down to earth people working there, the head brewer included. It seems like Hardywood is definitely going to be a credit to the Virginia beer scene. |
