April 18, 2012 [ Updated April 19, 2012 ] Worth a visit if you’re in Freiburg. Nice brewpub, the Inselhopf is excellent and you can take home a growler if you want. I’ve only had snacks there, once cheese once Schmalzbrot and they were both very good. Our waitress was very friendly and did her best to help my friends with food allergies. |

August 17, 2011 Nice brewpub with a nice garden. Unfortunately only one (sometimes two) self-brewed beers available but they taste very good. |

August 11, 2011 Their biergarten makes you feel like you are in the countryside, which is very nice. The building where the brewery and restaurant are is rather drab and modern however. The one house beer that was available that day was a beautiful unfiltered lager the likes of which I wouldn’t mind drinking for an entire evening. Service was efficient at the biergarten (lots of cute university gals too...) and the prices reasonable. Great place to have a brew and chat with friends in the shade of chestnut trees. |

August 12, 2010 Large place in the city centre. Very smelly of meat that has been on the stove for hours and hours (= not good). Downstairs were some places left to sit at a small bar. Whining children around. Only 1 brew available. That’s what I call sucky for a brewpub. |

June 4, 2009 Good local beers. Inselhopf is always my favorite. Atmosphere is great. Three levels inside overlooking the kettles. Nice seating in a beergarden outside with plenty of old trees and along a little canal. very busy with locals and enjoyed by people from all sections of society from students to businessmen and women. highly recommended. |

February 28, 2006 Most definitely worth a visit. Enjoyed a very hoppy dark beer "Narrenhopf" made for the Karneval (Festnacht) season. A light and cheery place. Didn’t try the food which looked hearty, certainly as far as the portions went. |

October 28, 2005 [ Updated August 29, 2008 ] Nice brewpub, mostly wooden interior, but dominated by the large brew kettles in the middle of the pub. The beers are excellent, and they’ve got some good food there as well. Atmosphere is good, the place was packed at the end of the evening. Very nice place, essential for beerlovers when visiting this part of Germany. |

July 5, 2005 Excellent, local-feeling brewpub. This place is very popular with the locals and always crowded, so come early if you want to sit down for a meal. Pretty good entrees and service, with excellent pub snacks and the best beer I had in my week-plus stay in Germany. Do yourself a favor and check it out. |

February 19, 2004 the best place visited on my Germany trip last summer. I came across their website on the internet and just had to visit. A trully awesome brewpup. The best beer I had in that area by a longshot, if you are in Freiburg, this is THE place to visit. |
