There is no doubt that this place is a touch rough around the edges, but you don’t come here for the ambiance. Best place to get Hill Farmstead beers and all staff are extremely knowledgable. I really need to make it to one of their festivals!

I have to say to start... I am a big fan of the location and the tucked away quality of this brewery. Glad I had a GPS but also glad I missed the first turn it told me to take because someone at the brewery had gotten stuck in the mud by taking that route. Anyhow my route was a nice freshly graded dirt road for a couple miles up to the Vermont hillside that takes you to the brewery which is an old farmhouse & barn brewhouse. I was pleasantly surprised that there was 5-8 cars from VT,NH and ME in the gravel driveway where there were scattered pallets of shrink wrapped bottles and empty kegs. Inside is quite rustic with a little bar and six beers on tap, as well a around a dozen imports from renowned breweries like Fantom & Mikkeller. There is a 4 beer taste limit but since I was with my lovely wife we were able to try all six by sharing a few tastes... not sure why they cant do a 6 beer tasting, state law maybe? The staff was very friendly and there was alot of talking going on about beer. I loaded up with some 750ml and 2L growlers to take back to Maine and was impressed by all of their selections. I do however wish they had some bottles available... That way Id have the option not to drink what I buy within a couple days to ensure freshness. Anyhow that being said I will now be keeping them on the radar and watching their current tap and bottle selection updates via the web, to better plan a fruitful journey for next time. I also hope they plan on investing in a little better more comfortable set up... being there with 10 people was reasonable but had there been ten more its not really set up for comfort.... you have alot of land around you... Im not looking for a resort but build a tasting room with a few benches a and a bathroom. Great place but with a little elbow grease and some thoughtful design this place could be legendary !

Went for Biere de Norma release. Simple and rustic, very nice place! Great beers, nice imports from brewery friends at nice price. Great place to go!

This place is an American mecca! A must for any real beer geek! Its out of the way, but is it worth the ride. After a few klicks on a country dirt rode, you arrive to this little unassuming little building...and inside, magic! The brewery is simple and rustic, with a small tasting area cum store, super friendly service, making you feel welcome, Shaun came to chat a bit, and met a cool guy, Billy B, who is a devout client and sometimes helper of this crew. The beers are fantastic, 6 taps of goodness. They also have rare imports for sale at decent prize! Wow....must come back...a few times a year. Worth the detour!!!

Rating this based on non-release day crowds. On normal days, it’s easy to show up, get beer and leave. HFS is a great place to hang out at and to buy beer. The folks working here are amazing and awesome. The beer is expensive but you pay extra for quality.

Stopped in before EBF and dog sledding. Sean and Phil were very friendly, got to try some great beers, prices were reasonable, and as a bonus they are licensed to sell/distribute some tasty beers from elsewhere. Definitely worth the trip even if its out of the way.

Ambiance? It’s a barn. SPent a good 30 minutes shooting the shit trying some samples. Lots of beer talk, as well as some recommendations on local places to buy food. This is where you get whatever Hill Farmstead has on at the moment - bottles or growlers. Some imports as well. Prices are what Mr. Hill dictates and they are pretty good - they could easily charge a fair bit more. Nice drive - but my GPS wanted me to take an old farmers trail on the way out that would have destroyed my suspension - if you’re using GPS exit the way you entered.

Stopped in this garage like building to try some beers. Only one employee so the wait was long. Beers were good. Seven bucks for six two ounce pours. Not much else to say. Worth the trip for the good beer, but not much else there.

Attended the Harvest Festival. The place is what it is, a farm. They had a large outdoor tent set up and local eateries selling cheeses and sausages. The retail shop is basically a garage which they appear to be renovating a little at a time. The room had a really fancy door and a nice tongue and groove wood ceiling but the rest was a garage. The beer though is the star. Quite possibly the best lineup of beers I have ever had from any brewery. I was able to try Ephraim, Abner, Jim, Art, Fear and Trembling, Daybreak, Flora, double citra, and amarillo pale. All of which were just spectacular. The service was friendly and fantastic. If youre going to be in the area do yourself a favor and make the trip to the middle of nowhere and itll be worth it. I plan on making the 4 hour drive at least once a year after my first visit.
