Stopped in here with a date, we both really enjoyed it. Outside dining with a fantastic tap list. While I enjoyed a Petrus Oak Aged Pale, my date had a 3F Behemoth(she wanted hoppy). We had already eaten so we didn’t try the food, but the people we shared a table with(for what its worth) liked it a great deal. My second beer was a Bell’s Expedition, again on tap, her’s a Two Hearted. All priced about ~$7.per. Well worth a stop.

I’ve heard there is some bad blood between these guys and Sergios. And while sergios has the rep and the bottle service to qualify as a truly unique beer destination, I still maintain that as of the day I visited Holy Grale until today, it is and has been far and away the best tap list I have ever seen. Anywhere. That alone should set it apart. Plus the vibe/ambiance and food are all top notch.

Love this bar. The selection is not that of Sergio’s, but the quality is there. One of the most knowledgeble bartenders I’ve ever had. She obviously studied her beers. What little food I had was great. I will be back to taste the rest of the draft line. Should take a few visits....

Holy Grale is in what apparently was a church. The decor takes full advantage of that, making this a very spiritual beer experience. Service was on the slow side, but very knowledgeable and personable. The beer selection is prime. A few Belgian and American rarities among a well thought out balance of desirables. The prices, like many places in Louisville are pretty good. Most of the stuff is about $6 to $7 a pour, but most of the stuff are imports that I rarely ever see on tap and easily run in the $8+ range when I do stumble across them. There are more bargain priced local microbrews for the connoiseur on a budget. Upstairs in the choir loft is a small draft selection featuring even more rare stuff, DFH 2010 World Wide Stout for instance, and it was only $5 for a pour. Not bad. The bottle selection is small, but well thought out and includes stuff from Cantillon so gets my approval. Everything is served in appropriate glassware. I ate the pickle plate which was a variety of artisan pickled foods served with whole grain mustard and sriracha: really tasty stuff. I loved this place!

Ambiance is wonderful, playing well with the Trappist motif. A little small, but the new Gralegarten and not-so-new Choir Loft have helped immensely. The service is very good, with knowledgeable staff. However, it is often busy, but even then the staff is generally quick with a suggestion. The selection is wonderful, with /very few/ dull options on tap. (20 taps + 6 upstairs) A concerted effort is made to have a broad variety of brews available at all times, and this shows. The bottle selection has grown nicely, with particular attention to sours and lambics. One of the nicest surprises, for first timers, is the sinful food awaiting them, for reasonable prices. The fritjes with poutine are NOT to be missed at any cost. Special events are done with precision and attention to detail. Really impressive execution (and they have gotten rather lucky with the weather!). Draft prices can be high, with some 10oz pours running as high as 7-7.50, but considering the very special brews offered, this is neither outrageous nor noncompetitive. In fact, I’d say the best deals are often the harder-to-find brews. An overall wonderful experience, and it makes me sad to see a bad faith review on this page.

Stopped in with my wife while in Louisville. I can’t say enough good about this place! A little small, but the staff and selection were both great, and the value was good too. We didn’t eat, but we really enjoyed ourselves. Do yourself a favor and go here.

Overpriced beer and extremely rude staff. Food is ok but also overpriced. This place could be great but in its present state, it sucks. Definitely not going back.

This place is pretty awesome. the selection can and will beat pretty much anyone else in the state. The events are all top notch and the crowd can be good and full of fellow beer geeks which makes conversations very easy and lots of beer being shared. The menu is a bit pricey but the food is superb and definitely worth it after or during the consumption of such amazing beers. If you end up in Louisville this is a definite stop on the list, you wont be sorry.

Came here for Saint Sours Day Sunday, a well organized event with a shocking selection of sours. The outdoor space was great, and the amazing weather din’t hurt. The choir loft is terrific, downstairs is cozy, although space is a bit tight. Food was amazing. Staff were all very friendly and engaging, quick and efficient. Definitely have to come back to check out their normal beer line up. Prices are high for the area, but still cheaper than anything we’ve got in Washington DC! A must-visit while in Louisville.

Interesting building. Beer choices focus mainly on European beers. Food is a little too exotic for my taste, would rather have a burger than quail eggs. Atmosphere was a little snobby, made me uncomfortable. Might go back if my friends wanted to, but I prefer a place that is a little less uptight.
