The Hunters Lodge is a classic throwback Ė it doesnít look as if itís changed for years. From the outside itís grey, pebble dashed and quite unimposing whilst inside itís rough and ready but homely. Thereís a flagstone floor and a tiled fireplace dating from, Iíd say, the 1930s or 40s. There are five barrels and the beer and cider is served directly from the cask. They were doing a roaring local trade on a cold and wet Sunday lunchtime.
