Went there on a Tuesday night. They only had two beers on tap - a stout and a blonde. Both were abysmal. The food is decent and the service was good but for the love of pete, only two beers on tap and the bottles were Miller Lite and Coors Lite?

Hurricane Brewing is on a corner in the historic part of downtown Mobile, an area that has a lot of the French Quarter-style balconies (apparently useful for the big Mardi Gras in Mobile). I went twice on my trip, once on a Friday afternoon and once the following afternoon. Neither time was very crowded at all, so I’m not sure what the night crowd is like. The staff is very friendly and seem to be passionate about what they do. There are two levels, high ceilings and wood and red painted steel trim. The brewing tanks are all visible behind the bar, and it has a nice atmosphere. The 8 taps are all house brews except one tap had Woodchuck CIder, which I thought was a pretty odd guest tap. The beers were all better than expected based on the ratings I’ve glanced at. Apparently, Hurricane was part of a "Free the Hops" campaign to fight some antiquated laws on Alabama’s books from the prohibition era, regulating things like ABV. And the good guys won. The first result from Hurricane is an Imperial IPA, which they said was just a shred over 10%. The food was pretty good and the prices are fair. There aren’t many options in Mobile for beer drinkers, and this is the only brewpub in town from what I could find. Definitely worth a visit.

Located on a corner in the historic area of Mobile. Per Alabama laws it is located in a historic building. We got a thorough explaination of the beers available from our nice waiter. The food was decent and well priced. This place is worth the stop if you are anywhere near Mobile. The place has plenty of character to spare.

Made a special trip to Mobile from Pensacola, just an hour’s drive and well-worth it. Brewpub is located in a urban historical district oozing character. Modern clean high ceilinged place, but lacking corporate oppressiveness. Very friendly staff who are quite knowledgeable and proud of their beers as well as politically motivated to help Alabama change their alcohol laws. However, having to brew according to the Alabama ABV laws has made this brewpub turn out some quality session beers with flavor and character. I’d come back for sure and it was a real pleasure to visit.

Nice place. Helpful staff. Good atmosphere, laid back and airy. The beers were mostly pretty good, no standouts but only one stinker. I did not eat. It was, in general, worth going out of my way for.

A great brewpub for Mobile. I grew up there and I have seen this place go from Port City Brewery to Jim Cannon’s now to Hurricane. It’s got a great location in the LODA part of Mobile and the brewery itself is a cool place. The downstairs is unfortunately smokey, which perturbs this California boy, but if you go upstairs you can avoid this. And, when it’s warm you can sit outside on the deck. The beer is decent but not great. The food is an after-thought.

We ate and drank here before a buddy’s wedding a couple months ago. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, and the beer was above average. The only drawback was that our bartender was a total ass.

Mobile is my hometown so I wanted this place to rock my world. I was pleased with the beer, didn’t try any food. BEER, PLEASE! The home brews have great hurricane-related names like: Storm Surge Stout, Insurance Adjuster IPA, Floating Car Golden Lager, Projected Path Amber ((seasonals: Flying Debris Mardi Gras Ale [Mobile is the real hometown of Mardi Gras!] and Category-4 Leaf Irish Porter [St. Patrick’s Day]. I love this place if for nothing else, for having the balls to brew in the Port City. Much love and good luck, Hurricane Brewing!!! I’ll be back for sure with the jubilee!

The decor has not changed much if at all since this was Cannon Brewpub. They did have 6 house beers plus a guest tap on as well as an assortment of bottled beers. The menu is seriously lacking items. The food is typical brewpub fare, except the fries were cold. It is nice to see Mobile trying to support a brewery.
