| Sevenlee (44), Central Coast, NSW, Australia | | January 23, 2011 Good ol’ Jacksons. I’m afraid to say I’ve spent too many nights there. Ambiance varies depending on the night but it’s mostly nightclubish. I gave the service a low rating because of the security guards. Like many places in Sydney, they are dickheads. Prices are moderate considering the location and a game of pool with the glass roof on the top floor is pretty cool. Usually end up there if we’re out of ideas. | | TheRealMGD (54), Lakewood, Washington | | January 3, 2011 Visited once or twice during RWC ’03 and a couple of times when I was working in Nth Sydney in ’09. Fairly good atmosphere which can be easily spoilt by the crowd or the staff, depending on the night. Selection is limited, with some of the usuals served in a pretty average fashion (respect to the gent below who polished off >200 pints of their very ordinary Guinness). Food is pub fare, prices are high which one must expect for the area. Not a fan after a few attempts to be one (great location, good interior, nice outside seating area), I’d recommend it only to tourists in dire straits - have a pint and move on. Better to walk up the street to Fortune of War. | | ndon (52), London, England | | June 10, 2010 over-rated place. can have a good atmosphere sometimes, but mostly overpriced and an average selection | samistake2ice (5), , Texas does not count - explanation | | April 26, 2010 Really not a bad area in that it is just south of the rocks. not the best selection of beers but they have the essentials and more. food isnt bad. not a bad to place to go for a drink after work | | nate2g (320), Marlborough, New Zealand | | July 10, 2009 Around a dozen taps featuring boring mainstream lagers, and a few bottles in the fridge but overall nothing exciting here. | | Pyobon (25), Sydney, Australia | | December 12, 2007 The good thing - a large range of bottled beer. Other than that - big, very noisy (loud music), often very crowded, over-zealous bouncers, beers on tap not terribly interesting, clientèle generally not there for the beer. It’s also in the tourist area between the Rocks and Circular Quay - which makes it easy to find. | | garthicus (45), Toronto, Ontario | | February 13, 2007 The only good thing about here is that if you drink 100 pints of guinness, you get your name on a plaque on the wall, I have the honour of having TWO!!!!! | | Sully (14), Potts Point, New South Wales, Australia | | December 20, 2005 Here is a pub that would like to think of itself as a boutiquey outlet that serves fine food and a great expansive beer list. Well there is a lot to do before it reaches those heights. For a Sydney pub it does have agreat variety of all those beers that could be found in a good grog shop but this does not save it rom being a tosser’s paradise with staff who would rather serve you bourbon and cokes because they at least know something about it and the clientele who order them. | josfos (1), , Australia does not count - explanation | | April 6, 2004 Just because there is a wide selection of beer still won't make it worth your time to go, the bar staff a very rude and don't know shit about beer | | duff (40), St, Margarets, England | | February 2, 2004 Well this place just plain sucks, its got a decent slection of beer, Chimay, Hoegaarden, Schneider and more from the bottle, some James Squire on tap, Kilkenny, Guinness, but just too many macros are available. Besides this, its a horrible, semi wanky bar. Smoky, noisy, and all that, save yourself the hell of it, and walk up to either Heritage, Australian Hotel, Lowenbrau Keller or even the Lord neslon. Occasionally find a beer i haven't here though, so that would be my only reason for going. |
