dhbowen (7), , does not count - explanation | | May 19, 2012 Great spot in Boston | | DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | May 4, 2012 This place dates to the 1860’s which only adds to its charm. Brightlyblutnwith only a couple of tv’s so it’s a great place for conversation or on this night listening to the piano man. They have over 40 taps written on a chalkboard above the piano. It’s mainly local and regional craft with some German selections thrown in for good measure. They seem to do a number of beer events as well. The food was fantastic, especially the BLT Mac and Cheese. The prices were very reasonable as well. Another great find courtesy of ratebeer. | | miqal (10), , | | April 17, 2012 This is a great German pub with awesome food. There beer list is amazing as well. All the beers are listed over head on the huge calk boards. Love to go back here during Oktoberfest. | | MikeMoriendi (50), Boynton Beach, | | February 7, 2012 The bar is a cross between German and Irish. So much about it makes me think Irish but then there is a ton of German stuff all over. The selection is pretty big with some staples and some nice regional choices. The service was great and even gave us samples of some of the things we had never heard of before so we got an idea what they were like. Best chowder I had in the city. Prices are pretty on. We went twice while in town. | | kwoeltje (71), Manchester, Missouri | | January 28, 2012 Good selection of bottles and taps. I had a great reuben. Wasn’t too busy when I was there, so I had solid service. Open interior with old wood tables - nice if a little jammed. | | BREWMUSKCLES (74), New Jersey | | July 9, 2011 busy service personnel that may have been shortstaffed, none the less good service. Good authentic German and American food and drinks priced well. Good selection of brews on tap mostly German with some bottles. I like the atmosphere tin roof style open bar/restaurant retro 1930’s. | cjl6 (4), Rochester, New York does not count - explanation | | June 6, 2011 If you love beer (so if you’re on this website) you gotta check this place out. Food was excellent, beer selection was great. I don’t even know how many draughts or bottles they had. Two pages of bottles, giant chalk board of draughts. We got a good waiter. I don’t know if you will too, but we sure did. Only down side was pints are at cheapest 6.50 for a good beer. Ouch. Ranging up into over 10 bucks for some pints. Not the kind of place to do some heavy drinking, but the food and selection make it worth it. | | sogrady (20), Maine | | February 13, 2011 The interior is excellent, very old school with a fair bit of room. Can’t speak to food as I haven’t had any, but their selection is not bad, with everything from some European favorites (Aventinus) to West Coast selections (Bear Republic).
Overall, not a must see destination, but if you’re in the neighborhood you’ll get a much better beer here than you will elsewhere. | | Lubiere (349), Ottawa, Ontario | | February 7, 2011 A beautiful and huge old school type of place, very 1920s look, wiith lots of roundtable, a super cheap snack menu (1.95$) from 11h30 AM till 5 PM. A nice and bottle selection shown on a huge blackboard, and nice and friendly service. Nice upscale pub menu...I will go back! 5$ pints, 2$ entrees, wow! | | chriso (258), London, England | | July 14, 2010 Old fashioned and historic German place. Traditional German nosh. The beer range is more eclectic with a few US craft beers - Dogfish Head 60/90 Minute available both times we visited. I assume the house beers are Harpoon rebadges, Pleasant atmosphere. Not much bar seating. Worth a visit for the traditional feel but not really a beer destination. That said, the range was wider than most German restaurants I’ve been to so mustn’t grumble. |
