This brewhouse was our last stop during a Saturday pub crawl in York (nine pubs and one bottle shop). Only one of their own beers was available on cask, and one guest (Joshua Jane from Ilkley). Quite a nice, modern pub with a classic touch. Off the beaten track, really – about 10-15 minutes from the city center. In late February 2013 The York Press reported that ‘The York pub that became the first in modern times to add its own brewery has closed suddenly’, and pointed out that ‘The pub’s future is now uncertain but the brewery will be moved to The Tap and Spile pub in Monkgate’ (visited 26.01.2013).
