Visited during Sour Sunday in February 2014. It was crowded but a liked the ambiance of this place, especially the outdoor patio. I only tried one of their own beers, the Jupiter IPA and it was descent.
Located close to the BART Station so itís easy to visit this place if staying in San Francisco.

With all the times Iíve come to Berkeley, canít believe Iíve never gone here until now. An institution. Right across from the downtown Berkeley BART station. Interior has a wonderful old feel to it with well kept wood everywhere and a lot of brick as well. Bartender was very knowledgeable about the house beers and their guest offerings. They donít do flights, but he was gracious enough to set me up with some tastes of a handful of beers and let me order what I wanted (of course, I didnít order any of the ones Iíd already tried). Pizza seems to be the way to go here as I saw (and smelled) quite a number of them. Mostly parked myself at the bar downstairs, but also a great outdoor area and an upstairs as well. As with Triple Rock, the ambiance and the place itself might overshadow the beer, but well worth a visit.

My brother and I took the train from the penninsula and to my surprise, the bart station is across the street from the brewpub. I had a pint of Old Godfather while I waited for my old roomate to show up. I noticed that they had a pretty decent selection of guest beers on tap. Once everyone was there, we did the sampler and it was about 10 beers or so. I really liked the Quasar DIPA and I enjoyed the german hefe. There were a few other ones that were pretty good and there were a couple that I didnít think much of. But overall it was a pretty diverse beer selection.
The waitress was helpful as she arranged a sampler for us to try. She claims that they donít normally do samplers. We had already eaten at that point so we didnít even look at the menu, I couldnít tell you how good the food was or how expensive it was. The beer however was reasonably priced; the house beer was cheap and the guest beers were a bit pricey.
The setup was interesting as the furniture was all wooden and had a dark stain to it but the bar was a bright reflective copper. The bathroom was a community bathroom shared by the neighboring buildings and there was a rope elevator thingy to send orders up the 2nd floor. It had a very San Francisco vibe to it. It was also relatively quiet but it was early Saturday afternoon. In end I enjoyed the place and would return if I find I myself in Berkeley.
Update: I usually only bother stopping in for the sour/barrel fest (split between Triple Rock and Jupiter) but have on occasion poked my head in to see whatís new, which isnít much since I donít think they actually brew here anymore and they donít do samples of guest beer.

Vwery old Rating but this was my Fav place from a very early Pre-Ratebeer trip to the US. I was into beer but not in a Big way , SO the choice of tap handles was amazing and interesting. Sadly i chose my beers based just on the most interesting handle, and remember all the Beers being too fizzy and the fact that The stout was fizzy was an abomination. but i really liked the place

Outdoor seating is relaxing on a pleasant day - a small fire pit on the lower level is a nice touch. Large picnic style tables on the upper level make for good gathering places (plus lots of room for pizza, plates, and mugs!). Indoor has a nice turn-of-the-century warm feeling with copper and burgundy accents. All pizzas and salads are quite good. Other rotating appetizers are a treat as well, especially the short ribs. Of their house brews I am most fond of the Quasar (Double IPA) and the KŲlsch. They usually have 15+ guest beers on tap as well, including sours, barley wines, and local brews. Overall, the perfect place for beers, salad, and pizza with friends!

I really like this place. I love the weekend patio and music they have. They have good beers. They have good food. They have a good vibe. The staff might not be beer-oriented, but you know what, if youíre going in for beer, youíll be able to find something without their assistance. I recommend this place. Itís fun! Have fun here!!! Put the beer hound away and just let loose :o) This place is great.

Nice little brewpub in downtown Berkeley. Great location right in the middle of the madness. Along with Triple Rock down the street (same owners) they host some awesome events throughout the year including firkin fests and sour sundays. The beers are above average and they have several great guest taps. The ambiance is a little slick for my tastes and the service leaned on the disinterested side, I prefer Triple Rock in that way. In fact I prefer Triple Rock in pretty much every way, but this is still a good place with good beers. Stop in when your in the area.

This is an attractive bar/restaurant located a few blocks from its sister/brother bar, Triple Rock. The seating is spread out across a large indoor area and an equally large outdoor patio. There are always several house beers on tap as well as some good guest beers. There is a large menu of good food for a fair price.
