100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 TartuGambrinus (6) , | December 20, 2012 small cozy place where you can find 6-7 beers from different microbrewers. it’s place where you can find normal local people to speak with. food and beers are cheap and tasty! (177e rating d’établissement) | 80 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 HenrikO (10) London, England | June 7, 2012 This place really lived up to expectations - good considering my disappointment at the Old Town branch! "Quirky" is a tired word but really applies in this case - though this place has probably always looked like it does, long before RateBeerians started to find their way here!
Beer selection includes some of the best Lithuanian traditional "micros", like Morkunas and Dundulis Dounkelis, plus more bottles in the fridge. Food is dirt cheap, down-home and delivered promptly. Communal tables/benches make for interesting conversations. A great little beer spot and a must for the beer traveler in Vilnius. | 90 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 9/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 19/20 MartinT (521) Montreal, Quebec | March 11, 2012 Like Phil says, this place has quite the quirky wooden cottage feel, with all the old farm equipment adorning the walls, birch trees to support the roof and a simply strange decoration outside. There are very few tables, so it’s quite easy to start talking to strangers here. The beer list is as engaging as Alaus Namai or the other Snekutis (which lacks the atmosphere this one has). Food is typical Lithuanian, quite good for what it is. Prices are cheap, service is efficient, beers are mostly rare and excellent quality. This is probably my favorite place in all of Lithuania, moreso than the 20 countryside breweries I’ve visited. A gem in the craft beer world, not only in Lithuania. | 70 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 7/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 FatPhil (251) Tallinn, Estonia | March 11, 2012 Again - another gem! Reasonable selection of the best Lithuanian beers from the small and farmhouse breweries. obviously overlaps with the old town bar, but not always identical. Quirky olde-style wooden cottage feel, you really feel at home there. Typical Lithuanian prices - you won’t notice any dent made on your wallet. It’s quite a trek from the bus/train station, but like so many of the bars this is so worth visiting you shouldn’t be racing through this town anyway. | 74 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 JohnRebus (16) Athens, Greece | February 16, 2012 A place with original Lithuanian atmosphere and many Lithuanian microbreweries. The emblematic figure of the owner gives an added value to this very interesting spot. | 72 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 15/20 SaintMatty (147) Uppsala, Sweden | June 8, 2011 One of the most interesting bars/restaurants I’ve been to, in fact it probably is the most interesting. Lots of Lithuanian micro brews on tap, many of which seemed to be rather hazy. Well worth visiting. Visited in January 2009. | 70 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 14/20 larsga (159) Oslo, Norway | September 14, 2010 Out in the fairly alternative part of the city called Uzupis this place is more alternative than most, looking like a wooden forest cabin. Inside it’s stuffed with agricultural memorabilia (and a small aquarium), and the seating is all done out in natural wood. Focuses on Lithuanian farmhouse ales like the other Snekutis, but the owner seems to not work the bar here. I had an English-speaking but shy Lithuanian guy. Nice music, good traditional Lithuanian food, excellent ambience, and local beer with character. Not sure what more anyone could want, really. | 80 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 gnoff (256) Mölndal, Sweden | September 9, 2010 Visited a few years ago after finding a web site that mentioned the place. Very warm and friendly atmosphere. One night I think it was the owner’s daughter that worked, then we could speak English. The other night we relied more on sign language. Not alwas the beers were labelled such so that they could easily be found on ratebeer later, but we had no worries about that. Nice heary food. I’ll go back for sure if I return to Vilnius. |
