| UDBeernut (53), Saugerties, New York | | April 24, 2012 Rec from a friend, in theiddle of old city, small dimmly lit bat with tables in second room. 20 beers on tap plus 2 in cask. Good service and aelection. Solid place. | | JFGrind (72), Glenside, Pennsylvania | | February 21, 2012 [ Updated February 22, 2012 ] I have a 22 year love affair with the Khyber Pass. I drank my first Yuengling Porter and Sierra Nevada while sitting at its beautifully worn bar. I’ve seen more bands play there than I can remember. The Khyber was my spot to bring a date drink at the bar or see a show. The stage, sweat, smoke and live bands are long gone. The old jukebox and eclectic beer selectiion remain. The current Khyber Pass Pub is a beer bar that has a dining room. Staff is attentive, taps are plenty and you can still get a bottle of PBR like the old days. In my personal beer and music history the Mighty Khyber while always rank high with me. | | aj1451 (12), Vancouver, British Columbia | | February 10, 2012 Bacon Popcorn!!!!!!
A food menu that tries something new and does it well. A great taste but not for everyone, especially if you don’t like pork.
On the stereo was a constant 60’s garage soundtrack, it totally fit.
The beers are great and everything from Dog Fish Head to Victory to Lagunitas and Lost Coast. on tap with an ever changing fresh sheet. Half empty or at capacity, the srevice didn’t change for me on my few visits here. It’s worth it. | | italianjohn (127), Penndel, Pennsylvania | | January 29, 2012 [ Updated February 11, 2012 ] Long bar area and equally sized second room with seating/tables ..... Nice tin ceiling with old hardwood floors appealing place .... on the good side service was great I was asked by two people other than my server if I needed another drink but on the bad side someone opened a bottle that I asked for takeout so maybe too many people involved no biggy though ... The food is New Orleans inspired and BBQ: thats where I was torn the gumbo was awesome, the BBQ pulled pork was tough, dry and more like beef jerky and I hardly ever complain about food ... sent it back .... The beer list had 22 taps nice mix of styles, lots of micros and Euro for a decent price and a bottle list with a decent mix of styles and just one rare bottle (Barrel aged Boris Hoppin Frog) ... overall I’d come again and give it a second chance hoping that if your going to feature BBQ on your menu it better be friggin good ... the beer though was fantastic | | swoopjones (190), Buffalo, New York | | January 27, 2012 nice spot, good american micros on tap, 2 firkins. Pulled pork sandwich & fries were solid. Attentive service | | GT2 (196), Washington DC | | January 10, 2012 [ Updated March 5, 2012 ] Dark, easy to overlook beer bar in historic downtown Philly catty-corner to Eulogy Belgian tavern. Kyber Pass I think has a small sign out front that just says "Khyber." Inside is more of a local hangout with a long, easy to navigate bar with an adjoining room with tables. English Pub decor but extensive American craft beer list with lots of specialties showing up. Last time I was here they had a Ballast Point tap takeover with special one-offs. Typical tap list seems to have more consideration than Eulogy and is my first stop for beer bars in the historic area. A little gem worth stopping into. I haven’t eaten here but I’m sure the food is an upgrade from Eulogy as well. From their website, they upload a daily screenshot of their tap list, which is pretty much badass. | | rouxsean (10), , | | November 18, 2011 Try the fries! | krisagon (4), does not count - explanation | | August 28, 2011 Khyber is such an amazing place to go. The food specializes in barbeque for me, and they have tons of vegan foods for my fiancee as well.
The beer list is awesome and gives great descriptions, too.
The jukebox there is full of 70s music likie the Stooges, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, etc. | | Capa (172), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | | August 22, 2011 Khyber is my personal favorite in Old City. It boasts a healthy beer list with a nice variety of brews; both local and long-distance. Usually a few Belgian brews on, too. They have two cask offerings and usually something you don’t normally see on cask is pouring from at least on of them. The service has always been stellar when I’ve been. The interior is dark and the bar area is not that big. When busy it feels very cramped. They have a seating area for those who wish to dine, as well. I was a little weary of the place on my first visit as I thought it came off as a touch pretentious but soon I figured out that was a misguided thought and the joint is really relaxed and easy going. A great bar for great beer. | | Blairgus (55), California | | July 20, 2011 great selection of beers on tap. food was amazing! big portions for an average price of $12 and the food was amazing! service was pretty slow but everything else was great. |
