I think there’s a collective acceptance that the Kings Head is one of Norwich’s finest real ale houses, offering in the region of 14 beers on handpump served in oversized glasses and a selection of foreign bottled beers with style-appropriate glasses provided. It’s a regular of mine and one that I’m never disappointed with. The focus is generally on East Anglian offerings; the Kings Head being one of the near unparalleled pubs in the city to sample the region’s range in consistently top notch condition. The KHB is their house beer specially brewed by the local Winters brewery too. Things are kept simple throughout and the pub prides itself on being free from keg, however you can find lager and cider in bottles if that’s your bag. Food comes in the form of typical bar snacks. There are two rooms to the pub with just a bar billiards table in the back if your conversation wanes. The atmosphere is similar and emphasises good beer, good company and good conversation. Service is always friendly with knowledgeable staff behind the bar, enthusiastic about the beers they’re selling. If you’re in the city you have every reason to visit.
