Fech (8), Edison, New Jersey does not count - explanation | | April 8, 2012 The beer is ok. Only had 2 that I found delicious outta 5 I’ve tried there. The food was superb however. Generous portions, great variety, interesting and new types of specials. Great value too. You would expect much higher in a town like Sparta. My waiter/waitress was very good every time. Couldn’t complain. Had a fresh beer on the way as soon as I had 1/4 left. I’ll go back more often when I move and its not so far of a drive for sure. | | hbmason (20), Shoreline, Washington | | September 4, 2010 nice place, a lot of beers on tap, they fill growlers. Beer is sub par, but all around a decent place. | Bock Knocker (1), New Jersey does not count - explanation | | February 16, 2010 Was there this past weekend for my friends state winning Imperial Stout release on tap. While it may not be some peoples cup of tea, I like the local pub feel that the place has. The prices were reasonable, and the nacho appetizer we ordered looked like something out of Man vs Food. The service was a bit slow, but in all fairness it was a Friday night and it was packed. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back, but it’s the kind of place I’d frequent if I lived around the corner. | | grandet (13), Scranton, Pennsylvania | | October 15, 2009 Visited last weekend while in the area. Very nice looking building in a very nice area. Inside is very rustic and old looking. Nice area to eat as well as a nice bar. Brewing area is visible through a glass door. I ordered a sampler which had 7 beers in it. The octoberfest was def gone bad or off. The food was quite good. French onion soup and my gf had a open faced roast beef sandwitch witch was very good. Pretty cool place. Average beers. | | wilsomb (28), State College, Pennsylvania | | June 24, 2009 Pretty typical brewpub. The food and the beer are average to mediocre. Nothing too special. The oatmeal stout is probably their best. Lots of traffic and no parking. It’s worth going to if you’re in the immediate area, but that’s about it. | | BiddleBrau (58), Fort Washington, Pennsylvania | | June 16, 2009 First thing is this is dark and bit like a cave around the bar (low ceiling). Very comfortable place to hang out. Their beers on tap plus some Macros. Food was average. Ambience isn’t much but it’s a casual place. Bartender was friendly. | | nj4christ (14), Columbus, New Jersey | | January 10, 2009 Pretty typical brewpub. The food and the beer are average to mediocre. Nothing too special. The oatmeal stout is probably their best. Lots of traffic and no parking. It’s worth going to if you’re in the immediate area, but that’s about it. | | 41cubs (23), , New Jersey | | September 18, 2008 [ Updated September 6, 2011 ] Go to Krogh’s and enjoy yourself at all times except heavy traffic times, at which you will find 1/4 mile away parking (which I actually don’t mind, unless I have the baby with me ), and an absolutely nuts to butts bar scene. Great atmosphere, very Bavarian pubish. Very good food : Get the following: the nachos grandes, the rarebit burger or chicken (Their rarebit sauce is an ale and cheddar sauce and it is awesome), any fish special although $$. Service is very good when it’s not busy. And even when it is busy the table service is still very good but the bar is just way to small and crowded. Some good beers, my personal favorites are the oatmeal stout ( ridiculously creamy head) and the alpine red. Good beer store right down the street called White Deer Plaza Liquors. I just scored Founders Breakfast Stout there. Their beer guy is Chad, nice guy and knows his stuff. Overall, Krogh’s is definitely worth a look if around the area but try to get there on a weekday if you can. | | HoppityHop (54), New Jersey | | July 20, 2007 [ Updated August 1, 2007 ] Food prices are high for the area (or even for NYC, for that matter)......$13 cheeseburgers and $5 soups are not cool. Beer is nothing special. Place is small and the rest rooms could use a (much needed) update, but the wait staff WAS friendly and helpful. Parking, as everyone mentions is ridiculous, and it gets crowded on the weekends. This is nothing more than a "locals" kind of place that happens to brew their own mediocre beer and makes you scratch your head and wonder why the heck it’s so crowded and noisy. Pass it up unless you’re visiting friends who live in the area.....and even then, if they recommend somewhere else, take their advice. | plasmo (1), Augusta, New Jersey does not count - explanation | | June 20, 2007 A really mediocre place overall. Their beer isn’t all that good despite the variety, and the food isn’t anything special. The staff was friendly but didn’t really seem too knowledgeable about any of their food or beer and couldn’t even remember the price of their own beers off the top of their head. The place is surprisingly popular and parking, as has been mentioned before, is a big pain in the rear. Being that it’s in Sparta, prices are a bit steep--be aware of that. |
