On my walk around, I decided to stop into this place. Large, industrial looking space with steel staircase and handrails. If you have a craving for unibroue on tap, this is the place to go. Not much more. Some boreal. A few rare unibroue bottles are in the fridge. I'm not sure what the prices of bottles are, but the draught is reasonably priced. Cash only, with an ATM in the upstairs area.

I remember going there when it opened (in 2007?) and ordering a Hopfenstark Post-Coloniale on tap. Well, I went back there tonight (2012) after moving back to Quebec City and I must say that this place is now an Unibroue kiosk. They had like 5 taps of Unibroue beer (not a bad thing per se), 2 of Brasseurs du Nord (inclusing their new and surprisingly drinkable IPA) and one offering from L’Alchimiste (didn’t mind about this one though since I stopped caring about them many years ago). When I asked the bartended what they had on tap, she asked me « what color I wanted » and I think this sums pretty well everything. I mean, the place is nice and alright but that ain’t a place for beer lover; more for the hipsters (a rare trend in Qc City though --- most of them move to Montreal) but I would still go back there, only to drink a Trois-Pistoles on tap (and served in an English Pint..!).

Bar in downtown Quebec City. I love the ambiance in this place, there is great music and it’s pretty laidback. The selection of beers isn’t so hot. They have everytrhing Unibroue, but that is pretty basic. From what I could tell, there were 3 rotating taps of Quebec micros, one of them taken by Unibroue (La Terrible, not a bad pick), one Dieu du Ciel and one Charlevoix. Apparently selection has gone downhill in this place, it must suffer from the same difficulty to buy beer as all the other beer bars in the province unfortunately. The value was very good though, the beer was cheap and you could buy anything in a pitcher, including the strong unibroues. Not a bad place, but I would be pretty pissed to end up here as a tourist.

Nice location, the inside is not to impressevive, but at night for live music the place must be hopping. The terrace on the other hand is very nice with a good view. The beer choice choice is limited, very limited.

Visited for the first time September 24, 2009. Two years after the opening of the supposes excellent Quebec beer bar, selection is reduced to the Unibroue, RJ, McAuslan and La Barberie! The location as nice, so if I want to listen to live music, it’s a comfortable club, and the terrace is quite pleasant with view of the St. Matthew Cemetery. To bad selection is not as interesting as those of Vices and Versa or Brouhaha, but at least there is no Molson or Labatt!

Sat outside on the porch. I was a litle disapointed with the beer list. I was expecting a huge bottle list as their website boasts 200. I found maybe 50 on thier beer menu. The serve had no idea what she was talking about, and she was not able to give me their full list of beers on tap off the top of her head, and she didnt return within 10 minutes to give me the list so i left. As for the food i wasnt able to order any food unless i ordered a combo of desert and coffee......i was not impressed.

Pour un bar de Québec c’est plutot solide. Bon choix de bieres de la province, le tout situé parfaitement au coeur de cette belle ville. Spectacles tous les soirs...Clientele tripante ambiance very chill. One of the best places in the city for sure.

I’m afraid the purpose of the place flipped a bit since its promising opening. Nowadays, besides a line apparently dedicated to the brillian Hopfenstark brewery, expect to have the U line from Unibroue, one or two from La barberie and a good part of the Boréale and Mcauslan lineup. Basically, come to sample the Hopfenstark if you have not had the chance in Montreal. It seems that they have a live band very frequently, maybe even everyday, around 9pm and the place probably gets a lot more crowded then, but earlier, it is calm.

This place is something else. A greatly needed bar in Quebec City which focuses on Quebecois microbrewed beers and other Quebec alcohols (ciders, meads, maple liqueurs, etc.) The bottle list contains beers from many small Quebec brewers, and for now consists mainly of these breweries main lineups; seasonals are few and far between. But the range is large and satisfying, and you are bound to find a favorite of yours there, or quite a few new beers if you are not from the province. The tap selection was probably my only disappointment on this my first visit, as it contained only a few Barberie beers (okay), and some Boreales too (very common). Every night at 9pm, there are bands playing, and cover charges are possible. If these bands don’t interest you, there is a second bar upstairs, and the noise level is more subdued there. The terrace is also on the second floor, and is quite comfortable too (same selection is available up there). All in all, Ninkasi is a must visit when in Quebec City, especially if you’re looking to relax with a microbrew you can rarely get at other bars in the province.
