Located in an industrial park on the outskirts of town is this gem of a brewery. The retail shop is stacked to the brim with specials on their normal range and has a wide assortment of brewery only releases. The Le Picoleur taproom is tastefully decorated with a bunch of stuff on tap plus more of the Picoleur Reserve stuff available. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and eager to chat beer, they had free popcorn and some picnic tables out front to enjoy the sunny day. If you’re in the area pop in and try some of their non-standard stuff.

Nice little store/brewpub located in the middle of nof***ingwhere, Quebec, Canada. Took me about 45 min to find it (damn road repairs!), although I did not regret it when I arrived. Personnel was very helpful and friendly, ambiance was relaxed. Lots of beers on tap, from their classics to a handful of exclusives. The store next to the pub carried 5 or 6 completely exclusive beers ; which is reason enough to make the trip. I am definitely going back, whenever I need to go to Montréal.

Was there for their 1st anniversary (july 7th 2012). Neighborhood in nowhere near attractive (industrial) but it’s really easy too find (near highway 20). Good service with a smiling staff but some of them didn’t know their own products (maybe because there was a lot of staff on the floor for the anniversary). Selection in ok but there is only beers from the brewery (no tap from other brewers). Decent selection on tap and a couple of special product (including Porter de glace) in bottle. Price are more than fair for their regular beers but on the high side for their special products.

This taphose for Brasseurs du Monde is located in an industrial neighborhood that is not particularly welcoming, but the smiling and helpful staff was everything and more than you would expect from a new brewery. In the cafe, the food choice remains for now limited to chips and the likes, but the furniture and comfort are there. No publicity having really been made, we were the only visitors on our visit, which made the place feel a bit empty, but the generous staff were in for a chat and explained us they were looking at attracting the neighborhood workers in the near future. For the moment, the selection is limited to the basic Brasseurs du Monde lineup, but I was told that this lineup should expand rapidly, reaching 10-12 offering including more connoisseur liquids by the end of 2011. Since pretty much all their products will be bottled, it can’t be called a must for visiting Ratebeerians, but it’s not like there are many alternatives in St-Hyacinthe, so in the area, you might as well pop in and have a go at the whole Brasseurs du Monde lineup. Tasters are offered, but the prices were on the high side (3$/sample, albeit large and 6.75 for a pint). For people looking at stocking up, the brewery sells its low-fills by the case at very low prices. I’m assuming that brewery tours will always be possible, the facilities are quite impressive for a new venture.
