digita7693 (6), , Germany does not count - explanation | | February 19, 2012 Bar has a huge selection of wonderful beers.
Several good Belgian beers on tap, though not necessarily cheap, its also about par for the course for the quality of beers you are getting.
The atmosphere is somewhat lacking and the staff can be rather unenthusiastic, but we are here for the beer, and thats pretty damn good.
I would recommend going here, just for the selection, but just 25mins away, in the netherlands, maastricht, there is a much cooler bar with an amazing atmosphere. Id go there any day | BlackEyePA (3), does not count - explanation | | December 27, 2010 This place is fantastic! The prices were right around that of a grocery store, I stopped at the "Carrefour" prior to this place and the prices were quite similar. It was a bargain and the selection was excellent, he was out a 2 or 3 I wanted but had all in all 830 beers stocked at any given time when well stocked. I got some great beer, the avg bottle cost around 2euro, total I walked out with 24 bottles for 40 euro. These were some special beers also. The owner was so nice and knowledgable. English was good. Aimed to please. I would highly recommend a trip here, the prices more than make up for what he was out of which wasnt that bad. Go there. | absurdia (2), , Belgium does not count - explanation | | August 27, 2009 A name and a place known by all the people living in Liege. Very large choice of Belgian and Wold beerswith more than 20 at the tap. They have very rare beers and some nice beer coktails and fun activities. Simple food menu "a la Brasserie", try the "pavé" (Beef cube on a hot stone") Close to the city center called "Le carré".
You don’t go there for the atmosphere, you go there for beer experience and that’s it. Service is not so friendly. There are better place to relax and have fun in the city.
You should always ask a local guy to come along with you, to spot the best thing to try. You can contact me if you are in Liege or try couchsurfing.org | | MrRomero (109), Nolanville, Texas | | July 5, 2008 We stopped in here while waiting for the store across the street to open. Had a couple of T Smisjes. Considering it was 1030 in the morning, that’s pretty good. Good selection of beer. Nothing astounding. The bartender let me go in the lambic cooler and the beer cooler to find something to drink rather than dig through the book. Worth a stop if you’re in the area. | | auderale (58), Bitburg, Germany | | May 29, 2007 Pretty good beer menu, but they were out of the seasonals which sucked. Decent service but not awesome. Worth the visit until the store opened up across the street. Worth the stop. | | SHIG (141), Anchorage, Alaska | | May 26, 2007 The selection is very nice here. They bring you a chicago white pages size menu and you get to choose from there. Can’t say the service is that great. It was very peaceful in there and quaint. | | Glouglouburp (259), Montreal, Quebec | | November 13, 2006 I really didn’t care for the atmosphere. This place looks like an old tacky diner with FM radio music and everything. Most chain restaurants have more of a pub atmosphere than this. The beer-list is quite something though and the thick beer menu is impressive to scan through. Staff is not knowledgeable. Got myself some of the last remaining Vervifontaine Fagnard Blonde/Brune. A weird place. I still can’t figure out what such an interesting beer list is doing in such a cheap ugly restaurant. Worth checking out but only for the beer list. | | lovibond (10), New York | | December 1, 2005 Not much atmosphere (reminds me of a diner), but, oh, the beer selection. What to have? What to have? Great service, pretty good food. Not a bad walk from the main train station. | | mullet (224), Melbourne, Australia | | June 28, 2005 Identical food and beerlist to Vaudree, only located in central Liege which is very convenient. Doesn’t quite have the ambiance of Vaudree but otherwise almost identical. Pop over the road for some stuff to take home! | | Nate (246), Indiana, Pennsylvania | | November 14, 2004 There are a couple of these restaurants in the Liege area, including Le Vaudrée I and La Petite Vaudrée. Only this one is within walking distance to downtown. Beer selection is very nice, focusing mainly on Belgian but several from other countries. Huge phone book sized menu, with categories, pictures, etc. Monthly rotation on the taps. Prices are pretty reasonable and the odd rare find is possible. Saw several 1993 Thomas Hardys available for 6 euros, Oud Beersel Oude Kriek, and Westvleteren 6. Several of the beers there are available for purchase across the street at L’Antre du Vaudrée. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Liege. |
