| jobeman (14), , | | November 3, 2011 Stopped in here while travelling through Pennsylvania. Selection was decent, nothing crazy. Had a Duck Rabbit and Lost Abbey. | | AirForceHops (47), Epping, New Hampshire | | June 11, 2011 The bottle selection is what sets this place above many others. Top notch beers. The pizza and most other meals are really well done as well. We had a one topping pizza and it was cooked perfect. You can also get a mixed 6 pack to go. $13.99 for 6 different beers. You can call this a hole in the wall but… between the draft list and bottle selection, any beer geek will not be disappointed. They have a mug club and beer list for locals as well. If I lived in the area I would be a regular customer. | | Drink4Satan (28), Washington, Washington DC | | December 17, 2010 This place doubles as a bottle shop, and a good one at that! The small seating area with the ambiance of your average sports dive bar, is surrounded by glass fridges along the front and the side of the bar, while the rear is lined with taps, of which there are over ten hard-to-find kegs, such as Founder’s Nemesis. The bottle selection is insane, with everything from obscure and well-known Belgian offerings, Local Pennslyvania micros, as well as west coast and southern micros. There is an emphasis on rare bottles and even some vintages. I had the pizza there, and it was pretty good, perhaps a little heavy on the cheese, though some people prefer that. The servers were not as knowledgable about beer as the bartenders, who were enthusiastic and seemingly well-versed in all beer styles. Once I had shown interest in the selection they had available (having seen Lady of the Wood in the back cooler), they let me behind the bar to get a closer look at everything available. I will definitely go back when in town to check out what goodies they have on tap. | | jmm635 (66), Havertown, Pennsylvania | | January 5, 2010 Small, hole in the wall bar in the middle of a residential area. Not much to look at, inside or out, but tremendous beer selection. About 10-15 beers on tap, including St. Berny 12 and Mad Elf when I was there, and maybe 100 more in bottles including DFH, Lost Abbey, The Bruery, Victory, Weyerbacher, and many other domestics and top notch imports. Very good prices on draft, bottles, and mix-six take-out. Had the pizza which was very good. I appreciate the mug club, but I don’t live close enough to enjoy it. My only complaint - smoking is allowed! I immediately had to come home and dry clean my clothes. Kind of nullifies the good beer prices. | | UofFkid (32), Orlando, Florida | | July 17, 2009 Great spot. A welcome stop for a weary traveler. Great tap offerings. The pizza was very good. Revolving door of patrons makes for a lively atmosphere. A great selection of singles to take back home with you. | | vze1mhay (14), Stroudsburg, | | June 16, 2009 Good pizza and bar food. They have a good variety of inports and micro’s on tap and a nice display of bottles which are available for take out or table service. Looking forward to returning to sample some additional brews. | | NewBelgium5 (12), , Pennsylvania | | June 11, 2009 This place looks like a hole in the wall when you walk in, but give it another look and you will be pleasantly surprised. They offer at least 20 beers on tap and have bottles of at least 100 more. They have refrigerators for make your own take out 6 packs (very nice). The food is pizza, cheesesteak etc. but tastes amazing. | Elfastball7 (1), New Jersey does not count - explanation | | May 20, 2008 [ Updated July 14, 2008 ] This is not your ordinary college bar!!! Looks like a local watering hole on the outside, but inside its a beer lovers heaven. Pizza is really good to.
Great beer selection: Duvel, St.Bernardus(on tap & bottle), Chimay, Scheinder, Paulaner, DFH, Sierra Nevada, Rogue, Stone, many more micros and imports that I cannot list.
One could probably ask the owner to get a specific brand (ex Orval or Ayinger.)Take out singles and mixed six packs also.
Only complaint is the amount of space. |
