North of one of Moorfields Station entrances on Chapel Street, this heritage pub has a lovely Victorian saloon styling to it around its central serving area which is a reason to come here in itself. The main bar faces the exterior glass windows of this corner pub and this is where youíll find the considerable row of real ales, half of which will rotate and youíll find some decent options here if thatís what you venture in for. There is a serving hatch for the back of the pub where the lion share of tables are chairs are situated, all of which are still in a traditional pub style, although perhaps not quite as period in look as the bar area, however very comfortable and atmospheric all the same.

A lovely interior and from where I sat I could see the impressive old railway station across the road! Beers wise more on offer than most pubs and I picked up a few new ones, in good condition. A good pub.

A street corner pub located next to the Moorfields station in the business district of Liverpool. Itís a classic, well-kept British pub with great Edwardian interiors, including mosaic floors and small window screens, going back to the early 1900s. The public bar is surrounded by a corridor and two rooms. Eight different cask ales on display, among them a house beer from George Wright. Friendly service and atmosphere. Crowded on a Friday eve (30.01.2015).

Nice quiet pub attracting the after work crowd. A good pub for a quiet pint, didnít fill up too much but a good small crowd enjoying a few beers. Small beer selection from regional breweries and a couple of mainstream ciders available.

A fairly charming old boozer with lots of ornate decor. The beer range isnít spectacular but you can get a well-kept sessioner in here. Good value to begin with and they also have a CAMRA discount. Friendly staff. A decent option for this area of Liverpool.

One of my favorit pubs in Liverpool. Small rooms, great decoration and good selection of ales.

Great pub, very cosy, well decorated, and with very friendly staff. Several beers from local microes, good condition. Nice selection of bar snacks as well.
Absolutely worth a re-visit ;-)

A nice place to have some pints, especially the small rooms behind. The real ale selection is not so bad at all (2010).

A superbly preserved gem of a pub. Even in a place like Liverpool, where great pub architecture abounds, the Lion is outstanding. Itís decorated throughout in honey coloured wood, ornately etched glass and thistle pattern art deco tiles. The main bar has little serving hatches into the drinking corridor and there are two back rooms, one of which has a magnificent stained glass cupola and a copper surround fireplace. The beer selection wasnít bad either and the service was friendly.

One of those classic Liverpool Victorian boozers that manage to combine the ornate with the functional. Lots of tiling, etched glass and wood panelling. Half a dozen handpumps, including one from Liverpool Organic, when I visited. Very quiet on a Tuesday afternoon but I was soon engaged in conversation by the two bar staff and the only other customer. Food is of the extended bar snack variety including sandwiches, pork pies etc.
