| visionthing (114), Oslo, Norway | | May 18, 2012 Quite large pub located between Asok and Phrom Phong Station. Convenient location on Sukhumvit Road. Friendly service and okay beer. The bitter was quite nice, but the pilsner was nothing special. Nice change from the sweet SE Asian pale lagers. Visited 2012-05-15 | | Alexgc (16), Larvik, Norway | | May 15, 2012 Nice location. Beer is ok. Looks like a place for business people. | | GT2 (196), Washington DC | | August 9, 2011 Underneath a commercial building off Sukhumvit Rd. A little bit tricky to find actually. This is a pretty fun place that is certainly ex-pat focused but we had a bunch of birthday parties with Thai friends here and had a blast. Prices are pretty hilarious for BKK, so this is more of a "splurge" place for special occasions. Food is outstanding and is really not Thai focused. They have some sort of buffet dinner on a certain night of the week, I forgot when, but that is the time to go. Huge array of fancy food and all at a set price. The beer here is decent, but is probably the only microbrews you will find in Thailand so it’s fun to explore in that regard. You can eat in a sort of rathskeller dungeon area that is pretty cool. Still, if you are in Thailand to discover the country and discover its food, culture, and people; the Londoner is not going to help. | | deanso (103), the Hague, Netherlands | | January 22, 2011 The map seems to be wrong and I’ve no idea how to change it. It on the Sukhumvit road, next to soi (lane) 33. About 10 mins walk from the Sukhumvit/Asoke metro stations.
Only 2 of their own beers which is a pity. Food is expensive for Bangkok but the service is very good and it has airco. Worth a visit :-) | | janhfje (13), Skien, Norway | | June 27, 2010 London Pilsner 33 on tap: A little hazy, reminded me a little of homebrew, but OK.
Londoner’s Pride Cream Bitter: Clear, overcarbonated, clean, neutral taste. Tasted more like dark lager. Same yeast as the pilsner?
They also had Guinnes draught, Erdinger Wheat, Duvel and international lagers. | | fuchebu (12), Croydon, Pennsylvania | | November 20, 2009 This is styled after a British pub. They only have two beers on draught. They have a pilsner and a bitter. The bitter was nice since most of the beer in SE Asia is German or Czech style. It’s a bit overpriced for Bangkok but still cheaper than most Western bars. The pilsner was clean and crisp but not spectacular. | | TBone (173), Pori, Finland | | February 26, 2007 Expensive beer, exclusively for expats. Very English pub like, lots of room there. Food (thai) was ok and beers are drinkable. Location is central as it is along Sukhumivit Road. | Marmite (3), Sukhumvit Soi 23, Bangkok, Thailand does not count - explanation | | August 11, 2005 The Londoner is a massive space underneath a Bangkok tower block. When empty you can have minutes of fun with echoes, but when full the place has a nice buzz to it. One bizarre thing about the Londoner is that they have a live band on Saturday nights, when I’m sure most people would rather watch and hear the footy, but I guess David the owner knows best… The crowd is a mix of pasty folks, Indians & Thais, which means that it’s generally quite relaxed, as the oiks tend to drink elsewhere. The menu offers a decent mix of food that is just about bordering on being pricey. The food gets mixed reviews, but the Sunday carvery is fairly good. As the name says, the Londoner is a brew pub. It brews a ‘bitter’ and a ‘pilsner’. The pils is quite a nice drink and pretty good value too, especially during their ‘2 for 1’ happy hours. The bitter on the other hand is bloody awful. They don’t sell Guinness, Old Speckled Hen or Kilkenny, so if you’re after something more than the local beers offer, I’d go for the pils, or find another pub.
| | omhper (133), Stockholm, Sweden | | January 25, 2005 Expensive ex-pat pub with darts and pool tables. Thai-style friendly service and pretty decent beers. | | MartinT (469), Montreal, Quebec | | December 17, 2004 Was there in 2003. The pils and bitter were much hoppier than more recent comments say, so it seems there is recipe tinkering. The place is definitely not for Thai people, prices are very steep for Bangkok (for beer anyway) and the atmosphere is exclusively occidental. Well-brewed beer thankfully, and that’s the only reason you should visit this place when in Thailand. |
