Löwenbräukeller

2022 rating: lazy service, boring beers, away from the center. Just a place tick and not much more.

Impressive historical building from inside and outside, just a shame the service was terrible.

Large place with very lazy service. 3 times we had to ask for menu. No they weren't busy at all, they were just hanging around looking elsewhere where was no customers. Pork knee was just ok size for 1 person to eat. Beers were well Löwenbräu...

Large but cozy place close to the brewery. Very friendly service. Excellent food. Had sausages and saurkraut. 5 taps in good condition. A little expensice considering in Munich, but thats ok.

Nice place, maybe touristic, but thanks to Corona it was not full at all during my visit. Had a 0,5 Dunkel and left.

We went here Friday 13th September 2019 we slept in Frank at Garching Hochbrücke. Löwenbräu Keller is quite easy to find, we walked from Odeonsplatz which took about 15-20 minutes however the place practically has it's own U-Bahn stop as there is an underground access for the U1+U7 lines at the entrance to the Biergarten. It is an impressive looking building which dominates the corner of Nympenburger Str. and Dachauser Str. It looks grand, it's largely yellow in colour with green details, there is a large stone entrance with lion on the top, a turret and then it just runs back along the street, it's huge, imposing but looks great and it seems to be making quite a statement or challenge to the other big München breweries. We sat in the Biergarten which was neat and provided plenty of shade, we also ate here, the food was good. I had a couple of beers before Kostas, Giovanna and Arthur also joined us whereupon we moved to another bigger table, we had a Kaiserschmarrn for dessert which was tremendous, it's like ripped up doughnuts fried with icing sugar sprinkled and served with fruit (marvellous). The Biergarten was busy but never noisy or boisterous and there were lots of folk here of all ages. We never really ventured inside until I returned the following week to pickup my glasses which I had left, our brief look inside was of a really grand place though even then we didn't view the large drinking hall. I liked this place it should definitely be a must visit for those keen to go to each of the big breweries venues in town. I guess I should really mention the beer a little more, it was the core range but covered the main styles, I liked all that I had and settled on the Dunkel.

Large and busy, food was quite expensive. Slow service but good staff.
