Ambiance: Really cool decorations and such, I really liked the set-up. It felt fun and welcoming.
Service: Neither good or bad, friendly people but seemed to kick back instead of working.
Selection: Only had 6 or 8 beers on tap, bummer.
Overall: The aesthetics are cool inside, outside itís not too inviting though. Selection could be bigger, but itís worth a stop here.

Dog friendly. Has lots of beer, glasses, t-shirts, etc. for sale. Has 8 beer on tap and usually 1 or 2 local (VT only) brews. Staff has always been super friendly and helpful. Ambiance feels a little strange, like a mix between a store that fits into a mall-like setting and a pub. You can pick up growlers or samples (4). Samples are free and you pick from 8 on tap.
Growlers, tasting flights, dog friendly, bottles, cases, lots of glasses/t-shirts/etc

Iíve never really been a huge fan of Magic Hat, but stopped by anyway. Itís a quirky joint, with a haunted house vibe going on, even without the smattering of Halloween decor. The staff seemed like they could care less about our presence, but did offer the free round of four samples. I only had two because I didnít want any more than that, and you canít get a pint anyway. Gotta pay for anything else, including 25 cents per coaster, so more of a schwag shop than anything else. (Brewery #671)

So Vermont has weird laws regarding samples and you can only get 4 samples. Magic Hat has 8 or so beers on tap for samples only, no growlers or pints. But they do have a large selection of bottles to go, some that arenít so easy to find. Of course there is the usual brewery tour, and a ton of merchandise. They are pet friendly and that is a big plus in my book.

Seems to be a pretty interesting place. No tours when I was there however. Four tasters for free ,and friendly banter with the bartender. To bad the beers arenít better.

When I visited: Late May 2013.
What I had: Humdinger Series Over the Pils, Rousing Root, Blind Faith, Elder Betty, and Circus Boy on tap. Also bought a tulip glass for the hotel room.
What I liked: The high-energy tour is a lot of fun as the guide mixes random facts about the company with zingy one-liners, and the brewery is unique in that it resembles a haunted house. The schwag selection is pretty impressive too.
What I disliked: The beers are wholly unexciting and leave a lot to be desired. Itís a good thing they were free with the tour because none of them stood out for me (yes, theyíre that mediocre). In hindsight the only reason we visited this place was because it was across the street from our hotel. Prior to discovering that we had no plans of hitting Magic Hat.
Would I go back? The tour is worthwhile if you happen to be in South Burlington, just donít expect to be wowed by the beers.
Overall Rating: 66

This is a tough rating. This might be the coolest brewery I have ever visited, but also the worst beer. A+ Ambiance, free samples for taking the tour, and lots of variety on tap. I just donít like many of their beers. Worth a stop if youíre in the area.

Took the brewery tour. Really cool and definitely worth checking out. Tour guide was really knowledgable and the decorations and set up of the tour and shop were really cool and wacky. I wasn't sure if it was worth checking out the brewery but glad I did. You also get 4 samplers for taking the tour.

Finally visited in May of this year and was perhaps not too surprisingly not all that conquered. The tour itself is not devoid of interest for seeing the sheer size and crazy artefacts (and is fairly quick anyway), but in the end, the beers (4 samplers with your visit) are not all that distinguishable and I ended up leaving empty-handed. Has grown into quite a touristic spot, on a very rainy Saturday, it was filled with dozens of curious people of various origins.
