| Sparky27 (14), Phoenix, Arizona | | October 2, 2008 Closest bottle shop to my house. As mentioned, they don’t move the product as fast as some, so you have to check expiration dates, especially on the mix and match 6ers. They do get a lot of the recent release stuff in stock in bombers, so I normally just focus on that. The store is very nice and they have a great bar off to the side. It’s a little pricey, but then again they’re not a chain so they don’t get a break on huge orders. Staff seems friendly enough. | joeyv120 (1), Phoenix, Arizona does not count - explanation | | April 10, 2008 Nice relaxing atmosphere. Great location (next to the grocery store I shop at)! The staff seems to know what they’re talking about. The selection is pretty good too. Doesn’t look like it gets a lot of traffic I wonder about the freshness of the product. I’m not a smoker, so I don’t much care for the smell of cigars that fill the room. Definitely worth checking out. | | GeneralGao (208), Iowa City, Iowa | | March 2, 2008 Located in a strip mall just South of the 101. Upscale feel. Pretty good beer selection. They have a lot of singles that you can make mixed sixes with. I picked up four bottles of Full Sail Top Sail Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Porter and a 750 ml bottle of Big Sky Strong Cherry Ale, but these were the only beers I was surprised to find. They had more pedestrian-ish stuff from Left Coast, Lost Abbey, Beer Valley, Ale Smith, Ommegang, and Rogue to name a few. Service was good. Certainly worth a visit. I’ll be back on my next Phoenix trip. | | hellbilly (45), scottsdale über alles, Arizona | | February 16, 2008 lots of potential in this place to pick up hidden treasures. some stuff has been on the shelves collecting dust... staff seems to be well informed. kinda pricey compared with the rest of town | | trokini (55), San Diego, California | | November 23, 2007 [ Updated October 27, 2008 ] Amazing place. Very high-end. Very strong selection of micros, seasonals, and euros. The employees are extremely helpful and knowledgable. Prices are high, but worth it for some of the beers there. There are some So. Cal. beers I haven’t even seen in my hometown. A must-go if in Phoenix. | | smoosh (19), New Albany, Indiana | | September 12, 2007 A very cool place! Slightly dim lighting added to the ambience in my mind. A nice selection that for me - as an Indiana native - can be summed up in one beer ... Speedway Stout! You’ve got to love any place where you get your first one. Your first Speedway Stout, too. A very knowledgeable staff that helped my buddy pick out a cigar as well as some beers! | | Naven (48), San Diego, California | | May 20, 2006 [ Updated May 24, 2006 ] This is a great little "specialty" store. They have an excellent cigar and wine area, and tons of great beers. I found a few San Diego beers here that I can’t even find in SD, even though its’ my hometown. For instance, I picked up a Reaper Sleighbor Double IPA, and some obscure belgian.
If you live in the Peoria/NW Phoenix area, this is a great place. | rella (9), Arizona does not count - explanation | | May 20, 2006 [ Updated October 12, 2007 ] This is a store of rare breed. It ranks up there in overall quality with the best. Theres the sweet aroma of cigars as you walk in. Off to the left is a lounge area where you can smoke a stoggie and sip the finest libations of your choice. This store has the best of everything, beer, wine, Scotch, Cognac, cigars. There is a wall of beer to the right thats spans 30’ + or - a few. There must be 700 beers (all warm and it’s not that cool in the store). The only drawback is they only have 100 or so chilled. Rare craft and imported beers, Lambics, domestic, you name it. I bought a bottle of Unibroue 2005 which is not available in this state. I met the owner, a well informed enthusiast of all fine alcoholic libations. His staff is well informed and attentive. Magnum’s should be on the map. Great customer service. **revised 1-29-07** I also noticed the prices are jacked up on the rare brews like Dogfish Head Seasonals. Overall a neat place but I have bought over the hill brews here on too many occaisions. It’s too hot in the store and it’s winter time here in AZ. You can tell the turnover is slow. I found seasonals from almost a year ago still on the shelf, from more the a few different breweries. But, I did pick up a few bottles of Urthel Samaranth 750ml for $4.99 each. =) Just keep a keen eye out. |
