Idiosynkrasie (3), Bielefeld, Germany does not count - explanation | | January 29, 2012 No. 1 German beershop concerning variety. They don’t really concentrate on quality, but some top level brews are available. You can find regional specialties, a wide variety of German brews with a self-evident Bavarian prevalence, a good standard international assortment and brews from some exotic countries due to their collaborative partnerships. Service is helpfully concerning orientation inside the shop, but not - my opinion - concerning beer in general. If you visit Maruhn once in a month you will always find enough new beers to expand your collection without duplicating. | | Indutiomarus (35), Idar-Oberstein, Germany | | December 17, 2010 Wow is all that I can say about this place. I was like a little kid at a candy store. They have the biggest selection I have ever seen. Very good stop for those in the know. | | shrubber85 (110), Greenville, Indiana | | September 12, 2010 Large store right off the Autobahn. Great selection of beers for the area - one of the rare places in Germany where you can find a decent selection of foreign beers. Very nice selection of German beers separated by style with almost everyone available as a single. Over 40 different beers for less than 35 euro (+ a bottle of Campbelltown scotch). Great store - if you’re looking for beer in the Frankfurt area - this is a must stop. | | oldrtybastrd (56), Doha, Qatar/Great Falls, Montana | | April 9, 2010 Make a trip here every month from Kaiserslautern. Outstanding selection of German Biers, some Belgians, a little American. I get my Sierra Nevada and Snake Dog IPA/Doggie Style Pale fix here, but at a price. German biers run about 1 euro/bottle on average, Belgian/American 2-4 euro. | | Ruger988 (12), , Germany | | February 14, 2010 Overall not a bad store, decent selection, staff is more or less there for a check and not very knowledgeable. I’ll go back again but not somewhere I’m going to go too terribly far out of my way to get to. | | mcdav2154 (13), , Germany | | October 26, 2009 This place was awesome!! I’ve never seen such a selection in europe. I wasn’t able to get a couple of beers I wanted but that was because they were out of it. Maybe next time they’ll have it. This was a huge store that was a lot of fun to go through. I was like a kid in a candy store!! Great selection of single malts too! | | Feinschmecker (53), Seattle, Washington | | September 20, 2009 Unbelievable selection of beer in a town most people have never heard of before. The largest part of their selection is domestic. Beer is often separated by style. The Weizenbock selection could be a little bigger and the Pils, a little smaller. The have a impressive selection of booze as well. The first place in Germany that has Left Hand and some other West Coast beers. The prices are very reasonable as well. | Namako (7), APO AE, does not count - explanation | | August 30, 2009 BLUF: INCREDIBLE!!! I’m with the Army down in Heidelberg (about 30 minutes south), and got turned on to this store by a colleague of mine. I "poo poo’d" it for a couple of months, as there are TONS of getrankemarkts (beer stores) in Heidelberg. I had nothing to do this past Saturday, and so I decided I might as well go and see what they carried. WOW!!!! My first impression - This is a veritable BEER DISNEYLAND!! These guys carry beers from ALL parts of Germany, including Bayern (Bavaria) they carry tens (not quite 100) beers that NO ONE else carries in this part of Germany. They also carry numerous beers from Belgium, France, Italy, Australia, Mexico, Thailand, Philippines, Canada, and yes, even craft beer from the USA (e.g., Dogfish Head). I easily selected two crates of beers and swore I’d be back when I emptied them - give me a week or two. This HAS to be the best getranke in Germany - but I’ll keep looking for a better one!!! I know my search just got a LOT harder, though. | | Bierkrug (206), Idar-Oberstein (In Senegal), Germany | | January 7, 2009 [ Updated April 20, 2011 ] I used to work in Darmstadt. As the others have said this is by far the best Beer store I have ever been to. The first time I was there I spent two hours just looking. They really have just about anything from Bavaria and Germany.Check the website for the fantastic selection. Website says it is listed in the Guiness book of records as the largest beer selection. I saw someone else write that this is a Beer Disneyland (Yeap) | SkyCop32 (1), Las Vegas, Nevada does not count - explanation | | June 17, 2008 This is one of the best beer stores I have been in. They have beers from all around the world and you can have most of them as singles. The prices are reasonable, between 1 and 4 Euro for most. This is a great store to taste a lot of unique beers or buy cases at a time. I can’t comment on their rotation of beers as I have only been there one time so far. They have a small assortment of glasses and trinquets. The wine and spirit selection is also plentiful, but I did not buy or price any of these. The service was ok, but speaking German would be helpful on my part. The restroom was very clean, but you have to get a key from the cashier and it was free. (Not the norm in Europe) I will keep checking their selection and post more. |
