I have been here twice, both times on a Sunday afternoon, so I can only speak to the experience for that time. The tap list is amazing. There isn’t much that needs to be said, except that I could try exciting new beers here for days in a row without being remotely bored. The bartenders are great. Seldom do I encounter bartenders that really, really care this much. Somebody tried to order a Miller Lite, and they forced him to try a more craft oriented beer. They will shoot the shit with you about whatever. They toss glasses etc... Basically, as if the tap list wasn’t enough, a great vibe went along. The ambiance and the TVs are take it or leave it. The fries are good and the cheese/crab/pretzel looks good too, but I haven’t had it yet. Great place. Great value too, especially compared to DC’s Churchkey or New York’s Gingerman.

Went for the Belgianfest last weekend. What a place! Completely packed, good food, great beer. Just the way a bar is supposed to be. Had an awesome time

Mediocre bar ambiance. A bit more rowdy and sporty a crowd than I’d like a bar this amazing to have. Great service. All orders through bartenders, who are nice and knowledgeable. Very accomodating. After being at this bar I can never view "selection" the same again. Looked like well over 100 taps and a book of a bottle list. AMAZING PRICES. This might be the best bar I’ve ever been to.

What an amazing bar - easily one of the best I’ve ever been to. The staff was friendly and knew their shit - they were able to talk to any of the 100+ beers on tap and countless bottles. Impressive all around - service, selection, vibe. World class!

Spent a Wednesday afternoon here, and had an awesome time. Had several 5 ounce tasters, including a couple new del Borgo sours, a new Green Flash IPA, etc. Incredible list, bottles as well. Upstairs bar was closed but Casey showed me around a little bit and the vibe is awesome. Old school bar with lots of TVs but just an epic beer selection. One guy ordered a vodka red bull while I ordered an Italian microbrew with 0 ratings. Nice juxtaposition. Phenomenal spot.

Visited 5/12/2012 during the middle of the afternoon, so it wasn’t too busy. Great selection from 100 taps and I enjoyed my beers from Ballast Point, Green Flash and the local Union. Barman was friendly and efficient and the prices weren’t bad either. A very impressive place to visit.

I finally visited this well respected establishment today. I have no idea why it took me this long. I stopped in on a Tuesday afternoon between lunch and dinner hours, so the place was almost void of patrons, which allowed my family and me to secure a nice nook in the back. Service was extremely friendly and prompt. Service with a smile. The bartender let me try a few 1 oz. pours of beers that piqued my curiosity, and also checked in the back in attempt to locate a few of my special requests. I ended up drinking an Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien Grand Cru (Vin Blanc) 2011, which was outstanding. I was shocked to find this beer available, and even more surprised when it was listed at $15. I fully expected a massive price gouge, but was pleasantly surprised to see all of the beers on the bottle list more than reasonably priced, especially considering the location of the pub and competitor’s prices being considerably higher. The food was tasty, but nothing exemplary, per se. The nachos with chili and mozzarella sticks were both well done. Overall, this was a very enjoyabvle experience. I will definitely be back for more brews at Max’s.

Hands down the best place for beer in the Baltimore area. 102 taps that rotate quickly along with a massive bottle selection. Events and specials take place ever week with the annual highlight being the Belgian Beer Festival that takes place over President’s Day Weekend; one of the largest in the US. Large place with multiple bars, but it can fill up on weekend nights (mostly with non-beer lovers). Pub style service, so you have to muscle your way up to the bar on crowded nights, but the staff knows their stuff and are quick to recognize the regulars. Food menu with a lot of variety; nothing special, but good in terms of bar food. Definitely a place every beer lover should visit at least once.

cool building with multiple rooms. lotta brick. 80s music playing. very attentive bartenders. big long taplist of like 102 beers the day i was there. scroll past a lot of them, but sure to have something you would be willing to consume. all beers available in 5 oz pours. neat place. if you can only go to 1 place in baltimore, go here for ticking or to drink a lot of beers in a fun bar. if you you want more of a quiet joint with food that is not friend "of love and regret" might be a better option.
