Sculpin IPA on tap at a Vietnamese restaurant? Yes. A Randell that pulls Stone Ruination through citra hops, ginger and fresh chili, at an Asian restaurant? Of course. You can only be at Mekong when you see these things. And by the way, the food is excellent. Oh, and the prices are terrific. And, of course, the staff is a riot, and they know a ton about beer. What more do you need? It’s nirvana.

Great selection of beers, from belgians to rare bottles, they even have a Randal. Food was excellent, I would definitely recommend the crispy trout.

I love this place. Good food, friendly.. and knowledgable service. Lots of parking. the only thing I don’t like about it is that it’s always so crowded, unless you go on a M-TH evening, early. Even so, the wait is worth it.

Thought I’d already rated this. They work hard and succeed as making themselves a go-to beer place for Richmond. Great selection and decent prices. Physical ambiance is very basic, but it seems to have good energy. Owner takes to a bit of moderate celebrity and works it well. Servers are very efficient and can handle the mass confusion of a table of drinkers ordering helter-skelter. Nothing to complain about the food. Good for bar, groups, casual night out.

Visited for a late lunch, mid-afternoon on New Year’s Eve and was surprised at the relatively sizeable crowd. Quirky joint -- the feel of your average Asian restaurant, but festooned with breweriana. They had a rock-solid lineup of 12 or so drafts, including a Hardywood Stout run thru a randall with peppermint canes. Other than the one local offering, the selection was decidedly Belgian. I didn’t look at the bottle list too hard, but it looked like it had a similar slant. We dined on some yummy food and had a great time overall. The beer was actually a nice complement to the spicy Vietnamese cuisine.

Any beer lovers, if you’re in VA. Have to give this place a visit. Was taken here by a co worker. I was BLOWN, SPEECHLESS. Never try soooo many beers in 1 nite. I was having a great time. Hint ( best beer experience is seating at the BAR) My co worker introduced me to a beer expert name An Mekong. He keep bringing us beers to taste and tell us stories of belgium trip. Food was awesome. I love Rocket Shrimp and clay pot fish. Service by An was outstanding. Best beer place so far. looking forward to next visit :))))

It’s pretty much one of the greatest places on earth if you like Belgian beer. rom standards like Chouffe and Chimay and Gouden Carolus, to really rare stuff that you can’t believe An (proprietor) was able to snag a keg of-. The bar is usually deep with beer geeks, and the place smells of vietnamese food (b/c it’s a vietnamese restaurant). The two go well together. An is a master barkeep and will be able to recommend your next beer in a heartbeat if you can tell him what you like and don’t like. The backup bar guys are pretty good too. It’s a MUST SEE if you come to Richmond.

Mekong is an incredible establishment. Great food, service, staff and of course beer. Their Draft list is second to none. Wonderful selection of rare bottled beer. A definite stop on any beer enthusiast’s list. Stop by and see An Mekong for an incredible experience.
