Visited on a Monday afternoon. They have a huge outdoor seating area with a lot of psychedelic mushrooms and other crazy looking shit. Inside the crazy stuff continues. The bar is on the left side. All the beers on tap are on chalkboards above the taps. A lot bigger selection than expected with a major emphasis on beers from North Carolina. I tried a few new things. I’m not sure if they do flights. Since there were only a few new things to me, I did full pours. There was a great bartender working during my visit. She kept beer in front of me until I was ready to leave. Pricing was fair and consistent with the area. I would come back here, for sure.

Slightly more psychadelic than other MM locations. Smallish bar off the one side with a good view of the Stmpsons and the abominable snowman. Beer list is mostly local, with both flagship and seasonal offerings from almost a dozen NC breweries. Pizza is OK. In the heart of downtown, very convenient.

I started visitng the Mellow Mushroom chain when my sister lived in Albany, GA...it was the best and only craft beer location in town. When she moved to Atlanta I moved to Taco Mac for my chain craft beer bars. Nonetheless I continue to visit these locations as they are still often a good choice in certain areas where there aren’t many others. This Asheville location absolutely has the best most eclectic look and decor (looks like it was an old gas station once). The food always has a nice variety of reasonably decent food. The best thing is being able to taste a wide variety of local beer from their large numbner of taps. My only major gripe with this location...and it’s a big one...they were serving their beer "extremely" too cold. I’m from NJ and can’t get Bell’s Two Hearted by me...so it’s a favorite on the road...unfortunatlry I couldn’t taste it...just numbed my tastebuds!

11/29/13. Stopped in on 11/27/13. Typical Mellow Mushroom fare here, decor and all. Well-lit, family friendly for the most part, goofy shit and mushrooms all over the place. I thought this particular location was a little dingy/dirty, honestly. Huge outdoor seating area.

Our bartender was prompt, friendly, nice, and knew a bit about the beers. The only thing making the service a mark higher was that it was too slow.<P> Great selection of local beers, but also a mix of GA standards that won’t appeal to the beer nerd - Sweetwater, etc.

I didn’t have food, but I generically enjoy Mellow Mushroom’s calzones, etc.

$3 pints available that day, which was nice, but only one of the many beers on tap. The other beers were on par for the area - too expensive.

Overall, this isn’t a destination stop, but they do have a ton of local beers on tap and it’s conveniently located in the downtown area where there is lots of shopping and activities. A good stop for a quick tick or two.

Interior is rather different from that of other Mellow Mushrooms I have visited. Service was a little slow though the place was not too busy, but the waitstaff were helpful. Selection emphasizes local brews, clearly written for all to see - but you can ask for something off the regular menu. Food is, as usual, darn good, and prices are reasonable. If the weather is nice, consider the substantial patio seating.

Stopped by here as I got to the LAB before it opened and this was a block away. Oddly, this is the first Mellow Mushroom I’ve been to that looks like I’d expect a MM to look. Almost psychedelic decor with Alice in Wonderland motif and a bunch of other brightly colored stuff. Didn’t eat. Big selection of beers with a heavy emphasis on local and a few rarities. Very nice and helpful bartender. Decent beer prices, parking lots nearby.

Catching up on old notes Visited December 20, 2011 - One of the cooler Mellow mushrooms I’ve visited. Great tap list, helpful staff, and great trippy vibe. The pizza still sucks, but I didn’t visit for the pizza.

This is a cool Mellow Mushroom with good pie and a great draft selection. Our server was nice, but a space cadet, and took forever. Still, we had fun (once we were attended to), and enjoyed the pizza and beer.
