Centrally located and beer-focused, so certainly worthy of a visit, but I found the atmosphere cramped and stuffy when it was packed on a Saturday night, with a lot of people wearing perfume and cologne. Bartenders are nice and knowledgeable but I think the operation was suffering. Some of the bottles seemed old, and many on the back shelf seemed to have been there for a long time collecting dust. The glassware was almost all dirty and smudged which didn’t make me want to stick around. And of the 8 or so taps, only 1 was something that was un-spiced, in good shape and interesting. This is the current top spot for Reykjavik on Ratebeer, but I put 73, K Bar and Hlemmur Square above Micro Bar for most-enjoyed spots in town. YMMV.

Didn’t even realize this place was in my hotel lobby when I booked, but that’s awfully convenient. Decent hotel as well, but the tap water in the room is the most sulfuric I’ve ever witnessed, it’s like a rotten egg bomb every time I showered or ran the faucet. Tap water in the Micro Bar was fine. Anyway, talked at length to both bartenders on a very slow night (I was the only one there for ~2 hours), great guys. Tried 3 of the Gaedingur brews (since the same guy owns both places) and a few sips of several other things. Lots of Mikkeller, Evil Twin, and To Ol in bottles, and even Westy 8 and 12 (at around $40/bottle, though). Probably not the best place in town to try a lot of Icelandic beer, but definitely worth a visit.

Definitely the best place in Iceland. However, the prices were astronomical. $35 for a Westy 8 and $45 for a 12. I got a "cheap" local draft for $7.50. Huge selection though. So if you want to drink, go here.

Weird place in a hotel lobby, very small and always crowded so nowhere to sit. The taps are mostly from the brewery which shares an owner and don’t seem to rotate much. Great bottle menu if you like Mikkeller, probably even better than Mikkellerbar! Disappointed by the lack of Icelandic craft on tap and bottle.

In any European city this selection of beers would be special. In Iceland, 66 degrees north of the equator and on the way to nowhere, and with alcohol taxed into the next century it is absolutely extraordinary. Good Icelandic representation, good information, best place in the nation. (So far.) Part of but unrelated to the City Center Hotel, for those who don’t want a long walk home.

Awesome, awesome place. Was in Iceland for two weeks on a job and decided to come here on the last night I was in town. So many great beers, and the guys running the place clearly know their shit. I had to get the Tactical Nuclear Penguin because I had wanted to try it forever. I also had a Black Tokyo Horizon. Great place. Wish there were more seats though! Food would be cool. too. We are spoiled with out brewpubs here in the US.

This was the one bar that everyone recommended we visit. We did so on our first day. We were not disappointed. Steinn our bartender was very helpful. He even set-up a trip to a brewery in Northern Iceland. The selection was excellent. They cater to local brewers across the country and not as much to the larger brewers like Viking Vilifell. He was also available to describe the brewery and the type of beer. This is a highly recommended visit to enjoy the beers of Iceland.

Cozy place, hard to find, located in Austurstrædi. Convinient for me it was about 50 meters from my hotel. Very service minded staff. Nice selection, even if there could be more icelandic beers and less mikkeller/brewdog. Still this is an awsome place with beers i’ve never tasted before. Anchorage Brewing for example. This is the place to visit in Reykjavik. Probably the only place you need if you’re into beer

Small modern but cozy bar that has great selection of world class beers from all over the world. The range of beers is very good and the staff is knows what it is doing. 8 taps with Icelandic beers from micro breweries in Iceland. Place that every beer geek has to check out if they have the change.
