| DiarmaidBHK (307), Pennsylvania | | May 4, 2012 Has sort of a Greenwich Village dive bar feel with its concrete floor, worn wooden furniture, and blood red walls decorated by photos of the interiors of refrigerators. It’s a small space so it gets loud very quickly. They have 20+ taps of local and national craft with a couple of Belgian and German selections. The extensive bottle list includes a number of Belgians including Fantome and 5 Cantillons at big bucks. The prices are reasonable and there’s plenty of parking next door. I’d say it’s a great local and an OK destination. | | Sourhead (10), Massachusetts | | June 2, 2011 This place is the balls! I learned so much here about great beer while i was at Umass. Now I live in Worcester and thankfully have Armsby and The Dive.
The Moan is an institution. Great beer selection, bartenders and peanuts!. | | lalu (37), Laval, Quebec | | May 23, 2011 Nice little beer bar in the middle of nowhere.Great selection of brews.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, especially Lisa.
Will definitely return.
| | WLG423 (13), Connecticut | | November 28, 2010 Great bar in Amherst. A nice selection of beers on tap with an extensive bottle list. Bartender was not super knowledgeable about the beers but was friendly and provided prompt service. Nice chill atmosphere with some great tunes. | RCL (7), Waltham, Massachusetts does not count - explanation | | October 11, 2010 Showed up early on a Monday afternoon - stupid cheap $4 for everything on draft that day! Good tap list and an extensive bottle list. I won’t be making any special trips out from Boston, but, if you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a stop. | | BarKeeper (14), Brussels, Belgium | | April 11, 2010 Excellent bar lost in the middle of Nowhere !
It’s like a bruincafé in belgium, small tables, a lot of people standing up.
Beer poured like fountain.
I really enjoyed the place ! | | dogfish120love (18), Westfield, Massachusetts | | February 10, 2010 New owner... great guy. awesome place to grab a beer amongst fellow afficianado’s. huge bottle list and rotating draft lines | | Sammy (408), Toronto, Ontario | | July 11, 2007 I only found out after that it is so highly rated. It is a relatively small place, well lit by natural light. Moderate bar was all full, but the socializing tables in the middle were fine for us. Instant service, good glasses and good and varied selection. I particular liked the photo of the latest beers up on their website that I could prior check out. Northwest Mass., not an easy trip to come out on a regular basis, which I would do. I enjoyed it,it was a laid-back and diversified crowd. | | TURDFERGUSON (117), Carrboro, North Carolina | | October 23, 2006 I have spent a lot of money and time in this place. Money in bold. Although pricey, you get what you pay for. One of the best tap and bottle selections in Massachusetts all served in its matching glass. Bartenders can be a bit non-responsive and snobby at times, but some are def better than others. If Benny or Nathan are there, you are in luck. Kind of dark (and the bartenders keep making it darker throughout the night) with about 6 booths on one side, a couple tables with stools in the middle, and another 10-15 stools at the bar. TV only in use during redsox season. This place is partly responsible for my beer education. Oh yeah, Free All you can eat Peanuts! | | skibumphishead (11), Massachusetts | | October 15, 2006 I have had a lot of fun at this place. I lived in western mass for 5 years and I have had many special occasions celebrated at this tiny establishment. The beer selection is amazing. Great drafts (you can check out the draft selection on thier website) plus an excellent bottle selection. The bartenders can be pretentious until they discover that you know a little bit about beer. Free peanuts always make me thirsty for expensive beer. I’ve heard great music and bad music here depending on who is behind the bar. You can bring in food and the redsox games are usually on the tv in the corner. Go to the spirit haus for the same great beer to enjoy at home. |
