The idea with Monk´s is simple, yet brilliant. An enormous range of beer from all over the world. There are a couple of problems though. Because the range is so big, Monk´s think that they can charge double the amount of anyone else. For example a couple of African lagers cost 100sek here, but at a local African diner the same beer cost 55sek. Quite a difference. Then a lot of beer "just ran out" when you tell the waitor what you want to order. Prices are simply too high. Also the exxagerate some of the beers they have. For example Goose Island seem to be the worlds best beer acc to Monk´s. The ones I have tried from that brewery were nothing special, but expensive. Maybe they have some special deal.

Don’t let the big beer menu fool you. If you ask for a specific rare beer, you will often get the "last bottle was just served to someone else" answer. There are good members of the staff, but most of them seems to know nothing about beer. A big dissapointment.

Visited here with Per (whom I can’t thank enough) and got a first class treatment because of that so I can’t really tell how it is when you usually walk up here. Didn’t have time to explore the entire place, but the area around the bar was completely full, while the benches near the brewing equipment were completely empty when we arrived. Strange. Still, the tap list featured among other things (of varying interest), 3 of their own beers, all of which were very good (a 4.1 and a 3.8, ’nuff said), and the bottles that Per got us were very rare, very cool Riegele stuff. Ever had a barrel aged German Imperial Stout? how about a German IPA? No? Well we got them here! Can’t comment on the prices, but I doubt that they’re worse than at the BAs. Another must visit! And I do wonder how the other two compare.

Calm atmosphere. Staff was alright. Selection is quite good, especially when it comes to bottles but always nice to have a good selection of Monks own beers. A bit expensive.

The service was a bit mixed. One bartender was a really nice guy where as the other just seemed to be in a bad mood, which wasn’t very helpful. They have a huge bottle selection with beers from many countries. Beware though: A few of them are not from the countries listed. Their taps were largely uninteresting though. They had plenty of Belgians and a lot of De Molen as well. The food was good. Prices were a bit high though.

Not the best place in the city. Pay a visit just only if you’re close. There’re other better Monk’s brewpubs. I was expecting a wider selection of beers

Very fun place..enormous bottle list that seemingly never ends. They brew their own small batch stuff that was very nice. About 6-8 of their beers were on tap along with guest taps. This place also has an affinity for Goose Island beers and the bottle list included some weird GI stuff I had never heard of. Lots of odd bottles where you are bound to find something interesting. Not necessarily cheap though and De Molen Tsarina Esra Reserva here was priced at some hilarious price that I think was a joke...something like 1,999 Swedish kroner. Definitely fun and worth going to.

Not the best Monk’s in Stockholm. Nice and big place to have a beer if you are close by. Good selection of foreign bottles and impressive selection of De Molen. Not the best for Swedish microbreweries.

Another good bar with a fine selection of Belgian beers, but this side of town is really not the best place for Swedish micros.

Charles generously showed us around the brewery when the restaurant was closed, and we returned for a very nice selection of beers. Their own brews were not bad. Food was good. Definitely worth a peak.
